DVD Drawer / VHS Eject button

Hi.  I don't know if this is my model DVD / VCR combo but it's close.  The VCR won't eject the VHS tape in it.  The DVD player won't eject the DVD that's in it and it won't play the DVD but will play the VHS tape.  Also, the main power button doesn't work.  Help.

My 1st suggestion is to pull the AC power plug from the wall, wait 5 minutes (have a smoke or a coffee) and plug it back in.
Then retry the functions that are giving you grief.
Report back with the results and we'll go from there.

** Please re-comment if the suggestion did not work for you, there may be several other possibilities.

I would have to say that is it beyond the scope of online help.
It appears to be an internal electronic fault and would require a tech to check it in person. Take it to an authorized service depot for that particular brand.

    Please rate this as solved.
Solved does NOT necessarily mean fixed. Solved means it was taken to the end of online help, of which this was.
Your equipment problem requires on-site checking/repairing.
    Thank you.

Vhs tape is stuck and message reads "tape

Unplug the TV/VCR/DVD Combo from the main power for a couple of minutes, the unit may eject the tape at the power ON.
You can also try openening the unit, reset the loading posts and eject the tape by manually turning gears, motors etc..You have to know what you're doing otherwise, you will do more damage or get injured and don't forget HIGH VOLTAGE CAN KILL.

A vhf tape got stuck in the machine. I could see the tape itself was caught on some moving prongs. now i don't know the proper setting for the prongs and cannot get any vhs tapes to play.

Hi, if VHS tape is in you have only one solution..to disassemble DVD/VCR ..Can you do it ? you may try !!t
Here's how to do it..
* 1 Turn off the COMBO. and unplug it.
* 2 Remove the 4x screws off COMBO on the sides and take off the DVD/VCR casing.
* 3 Look for the Tape which messed up with VCR transport mechanism ,try to release tape of the transport with your hand..
* 4 Since EJECT feature works with power only ,while you keep the tape off from transport plug the device to power and turn it on..Don't worry, you will see the eject mechanism starts moving back on forth, keep the tape off it and let it eject..
* 5.When tape is out .If it destroyed badly normally you should not use it however if the recording in is valuable for you you can cut the chewed portion and
splice it back together .(Pls see the video included...How to fix a broken VHS tape.)
* 6 While it is open, place another Tape to see if mechanism works properly. and eject it...
* 7 Replace the casing and the screws. Plug the player in and turn it on. Now player is finally working ..
Hope this helps!..
Take care and please

While playing the VHS the player switches from VCR to DVD in the middle of the movie multiple times. We ended up having to tape the DVD player closed because it would turn the player on in the middle of...

Hi, it sounds like either the eject button on the DVD player drawer has been damaged or the remote is in need of cleaning (I assume the remote to have an eject button too). you can remove the remote by removing a battery and seeing if the problem stops.
Best you remove the tape from the DVD drawer as this will not stop the DVD mechanism from trying to open the tray, bit like trying to constantly push against a locked door - you will cause damage if it hasn't already.

A VHS tape is stuck in my TV/VHS combo unit.

I'm sorry to say that the solution as stated is not correct. This condition usually occurs because of belts that are slipping. In order to remove the tape, some dis-assembly is required. If you have not done this in the past, I would not suggest that you attempt this repair. This repair should cost about $10 in parts plus labor. It is possible that the IR LED is defective as well which can also cause this. This is a common failure and should be a simple repair for any shop.

VCR part not responding

This is a common problem. Also the DVD unit has a High failure rate due to the spindle motor going bad. CD's may spin very slowly or erratically and sometimes the CD might be hard to eject. The VCR may be very difficult to get out to work on, and I doubt that it is a broken or loose belt that is causing your symptoms so you will probably be better off just replacing it.

My Tv is turning off by itself

if all you want to do is disable the vcr portion turn the set on , install a blank vhs tape it has to be blank or the vcr will try to read it .and the tv and dvd should work fine. this is a timing problem in the vcr deck its not hard to fix but it is a pain.
