Original xbox system

How do you have your Xbox connected to your TV? Through an HDMI cable? Are any other components involved, such as a Home Theater system, etc? If you have your Xbox going directly into your TV, you should be able to select the input (IE: HDMI 2) on the TV, then power on your Xbox and be ready to go.

I hope this helps!

I recently bought an HDMI cable for my xbox 360 (the new type, i don't know if it has a name but its the one with the touch sensitive power button), and when I plug the cable into the xbox and the tv...

Hi,

Sorry to hear about your trouble. You elimanted the cable as a potential problem so that is good. You are left with a couple of options that might be causing the problem.

-Bad HDMI port on the XBOX
-Bad HDMI port on the TV
-Incorrect TV settings

On the TV, you want to make sure you set it to the HDMI input when you are using HDMI, but I assume you already do this and most newer TV's will auto adjust to HDMI when the xbox is turned on. Always good to double check.

The easiest way to narrow the problem down further would be to test the hdmi connection with another TV. If the xbox works on another TV then you narrowed the problem down to the TV and will need to repair the TV either through warranty support, by yourself or via a TV repair man. If the xbox has the same trouble on a different TV then you know the problem is with the XBOX and you can contact Microsoft Xbox support for repairs.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Xbox elite connected to TV thru HDMI works fine, but connected via bcs-fs500 receiver = no audio or video Cable tv through receiver works fine Have tried cable tv through receiver inputs HDMI 1 and 2...

Hook your Xbox to tv via HDMI, then hook TV to reciever through digital optical or composite cables. If you try to get your picture through receiver first, you may get picture and sound but, sound may be delayed and picture might not be the best. Bettter to run through tv first then provide sound to receiver.

I can't get my Xbox 360 to work over HDMI anymore, but other HDMI devices work and the Xbox 360 also works with other TVs over HDMI.

Reset your TV, try unplugging it for a while, if that doesn't help, try restoring or resetting it to defaults, there should be a function for that somewhere in the menus of the TV. that should solve the issue, if it still remains, check the cables and if possible try another hdmi port.

TELEVISION - PS3 AND XBOX HDMI COMPATIBILITY

You have to use the scart connector for on screen menu settings. Go to the video option and enable HDMI and/or match resolution output to your set.
You did not mention the model of the TV so here is another scenario,
Just because the TV is 1 year old doesn't mean that it is a 1080p capable, you could have set the HDMI resolution settings to 1080p and you will not get any picture if your set cannot process the information.

Hdmi - out of range

If your hdmi cord is good, and you are going from xbox to tv via hdmi , make sure you have your input on input 1. Hdmi ports are usually by default set to work in the first input of any tv or monitor.
