SOURCE: SD card won't stay in camera

Quick fix... Roll a little piece of paper up or fold into a small square the set it on top of the memory card and tape that down. so that it puts pressure on the card and keeps it seated in the slot. It sounds like the spring inside the camera is broken. which you will need to have sent out to be repaired unless you have a local camera repair person. And that is going to take about a month. Actually more... unless you find a local repair person. Because Sony bought out minolta a couple years ago and shut down all the minolta repair centers and got rid of almost all their parts. I once had a customer who sent in a minolta to get it fixed and it took about 8 months to get it back. Because of parts.
So You will probably want buy a new camera. but there are still a lot of those Minolta's around on clearance and you can get a great price.
Hope that helps,
Caleb

Dimage camera unable to use card

What type and size memory card are you trying to use? The Z1 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It will not work with higher capacity SDHC cards, even though they fit into the slot.

Minolta card says locked. What do I do?

SD and SDHC cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

I bought 4GB SD card for minolta dimage Z1, but error comes UNABLE TO USE CARD....I read in the fourms that this camera does not support 4GB cards... right?

Your camera came out in 2003, before SDHC cards were invented. Chances are, the 4G card you're trying to use is not an SD but an SDHC card and won't work in your camera.

My new SDHC card does not work in my 2004 camera

Hi,

Have you checked if you have unlocked the card lock and formatted it before using ?

The SDHC card has lock on side of it. unlock it. and you may even need to format it as well before using.

Konica minolta dimage z6 card locked. how do i unlock it

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card. If the switch is already in the proper position, slide it fully the other way and then back again.

If that doesn't work, try another card.

What size sd card can i use in a dimage z1

You may use any size SD card. Bear in mind that SD cards max out at 2GB. Larger cards are actually SDHC cards and won't work in the Z1.

Minolta dimage z1 digital camera freezes after taking one photo, can only be unfrozen by taking out and putting back in batteries.

Sometimes Z1 displays an hourglass icon and pretends it hangs. In such case you have to wait a while (sometimes quite long).

If it hangs without any signal for a user, I'm afraid there is some fault in electronics. Try to recognise if your card is OK and if the "last" photo is correctly saved. Maybe then you'll get some idea.

I had such phenomen a few times (out of tens of thousands of pictures). I always removed batteries and after that the camera was fully operational.
