Take the machine apart to the point where you can see the pivot point for the presser bar lifter and spray WD40. Let sit for a few hours and try again. Repeat until the presser bar lifter releases.

Make sure that your needle is in the highest position, turn your handwheel towards you, not away from or else you will mess up the timing

How to change a pressure foot on 158.19411

That depends on which of the presser foot designs you are dealing with. For all presser feet, lift the presser bar to the highest level before removing the foot. For the snap-on foot, push up on the toe (the front of the presser foot) as high as it can go until the foot releases from the clamping shank. When you put on another foot of this type, you line up the foot on the needle plate and lower the presser bar. Press down on the presser foot thumb screw on the presser foot shank as you lock in the presser foot.

For one-piece presser feet, loosen the thumb screw and let the foot down. Then tighten the thumb screw around the shank of the next presser foot. On the super-high bar shank feet, you must push down the presser foot lock to detach the foot. See page 23 (page 24 of the PDF) of the manual for the presser foot attachment details. Sears Parts Direct currently has the manual here: https://c.searspartsdirect.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0909123.pdf .

I hope this helps.

Elna tsp presser foot does not move when the lever is moved up or down. I suspect it's unhooked inside. Is there a way for me to get inside to check it?

there is a spring on the presser foot applying pressure when you release the lever, so that there is constant downward pressure onto the fabric from the foot as you stitch. If there seems to be no pressure on the presser foot, then this spring may have broken. If this is a Star series TSP with a beige top and white body, then you undo screws on the top panel to gain access. There is also a TSP in the Air Electronic later model range, there is also two screws on top but you need to work around the carry handle to actually lift and move the top panel to the back of the machine. I'd suggest this could be a job for the SM repair mechanic.

In the middle of embroidery how to change Presser foot height on the epic husqvanna

Touch the presser foot up button once to raise the presser foot. Touch again and the presser foot will raise to extra lift position, and the feed teeth will be automatically
lowered to make it easier to get heavy fabric under the presser foot.In embroidery mode, the extra lift makes it easier to insert or remove the hoop.

Pressure foot won't stay up

The presser foot lift lever on many newer janome sewing machines will wear out with use. It can easily be replaced by a sewing machine repair shop or Janome dealer. Or you can look online for a "presser foot lifter" or "presser foot lift lever" making sure to find the correct one for your machine.

I have a pfaff hobbylock 796.

Has any little kids been around lately? Have they had access to your sewing area and machine? (thinking perhaps the pressure foot tension has been tightened down) If it has been tightened, losen it a couple turns, see if that helps (remember, left to loosen, right to tighten)

When is the last time you oiled this machine? Typically sergers require a clean and oil each time you go to use them. Locate the bar that correlates to the presser foot add a drop of oil to the bar and let it seep in. After a few minutes try lifting the presser foot.

Also does the presser foot lever move at all?

How do I move the presser foot on a Husqvarna Viking Emerald 116 sewing machine?

Not sure what exactly you need to know. Are you trying to lift the presser foot or change the presser foot to another one? If it is lifting, there will be a lever of some kind behind the machine. On one of my Husqvarna machines it was a big flat "paddle" shaped lever, not sure what shape it is on the Emerald machines. Lift the lever from the bottom upwards and outwards. Most Husqvarna machines have clip on-and-off feet. You just gently pull forwards on the foot (while the presser foot is raised) to remove it, then push the new one on making sure the small bar part of the presser foot goes into the clip on the presser foot ankle.
