Kodak Easyshare CX7530 won't stay powered on

I don't have a power adapter for my camera, so I always run it off batteries.  The last few weeks that camera won't stay powered on.  When I power it on, the screen comes on then goes black as the lens is extending and retracting.  Then the thing just powers off.  I bought brand new batteries and gave them a full charge and cleaned the battery contacts with no joy.  Can you help?

i have very low battery power, new battery only last one hour, then the camera switches off

I also have this problem. Kodak troubleshooting offered no solution, and since my camera is out of warranty, I'm left with the choice to dispose of it if I can't find a solution.

It seemed that when I first got my Kodak CX7530 several years ago it would take about 70 pictures on a set of batteries. I went to use it the other day after putting in batteries several days earlier and it would open up the lens and then go dark. I put new batteries in and it was good for only a few pictures. I checked the battery voltage and both batteries read 1.44 volts. It would seem to me that it is not the batteries, but a contact problem. The battery contacts do look clean, but my next move is to clean the contacts with a rubber eraser and see what happens.

Update: I posted the original problem in this string. I have noticed recently that when I turn the camera on and the lens pops out, if I hold it out with my fingers, it stays out and the camera functions correctly after that. Don't throw your cameras away until you try this first.

Won't stay powered and when turned on error message #B03 comes on. Put in new batteries and cleaned contacts. Nothing seems to help.

CX7530 will not stay powered; tried all batteries; bought new ones

I have the same problem. I have 3 batteries that each are fully charged, I was going to go out and replace them and even buy a new charger, but it seems like its the camera and not the batteries. I wonder if Kodak is aware of this problem. I bought this camera a while ago and was hoping I could pass this onto my daughter. Oh well, too bad at least I got some good years out of it. I hate to throw it away though.

SOLUTION: Fot the past two years, fully charged NiMH and new alkaline (generic and fresh Name Brand batteries) in my CX7530 always gave a red light and immediate power off -- symptoms of low batteries. Today I tried it again with the same problem. This time, I folded up a small piece of stiff paper to depress the small Lithium battery module detect switch in the battery compartment, and put my NiMH batteries back in -- it WORKED for the first time in two years! After removing the paper and reinserting the batteries, it still works. I suspect this somehow recalibrates the low battery detect circuit. I hope it helps you as well.

Get this~ I brought my camera to my daughters softball game with new batteries, it kept turning off so I took the batteries out and replaced them, still red light flased and turned off. Then I took out my digital picture card and IT TURNED ON WITH THE GREEN LIGHT!! Took pictures and stored them on the actual camera~ go figure.

I have a Kodak Easyshare CX7530 and it does the same thing. I put fully recahrged batteries in it and it blinks orange then red and it shuts off. Sometimes the light blinks green and the camera powers on and I am able to take about 3-5 pictures before the light begins to blink red and the camera powers off. I recharged ALL my bateries and tested the camera over and over with no luck. I notice that the manual indicates not to use Alkaline bateries, I used alkaline bateries once when my rechargable batteries ran out and I did not have any more with me and it seems that this is when the problem started. Has anyone used alkaline batteries and then has started to experience this problem?

I was having the same issue. Bought a new pair of Energizer batteries. Then when they didnt work, bought a new charger for the new batteries (thinking our charger may be bad). When they still didnt work, I bought a new set of Duracell batteries and a new charger. Charged them for 10 hours and then tried them in the camera...still not working. Happened to leave the batteries sitting out of the camera overnight...and when I put the old ones in the next morning, they worked! So I can return the chargers and batteries and use the old ones.

Not sure about this problem either. I have had it so it eats batteries like crazy, new ones only seem to work for a little while. Lately everytime I put new batteries in the camera won't even start up, the red light blinks and the lens won't even pop out. It might be that I need to try more expensive batteries?

SOURCE: Delete Button on Kodak Easyshare CX7530 doesn't work

I had same problem. I opened up camera and simply move the back of the delete button around a bit to ensure the button would hit the contact when pressed. Closed the camera back up and it now works fine. I have dropped the camera a number of times I think the button and the contact became misaligned.

Yes, alkaline batteries will work fine. You might want to consider lithiums instead, however. They cost more but last longer, so you won't need to carry as many.

My Kodak Easyshare V1233 will only power up when plugged into the wall charger. Even after staying on the charger it will not power on unless plugged in.

Kodak has 3 types of charger that can be connected to a wall socket
USB AC Adapter - is especially useful when traveling, away from your computer, or just plain on-the-go. Connect your camera's USB cable to the adapter and plug it into a wall outlet to conveniently charge your camera.
5V AC Adapter - Provides in-camera charging for all KODAK EASYSHARE M and V Series Digital Cameras
Input: AC 100-240 V 50/60 Hz Output : DC 5.0 V
3V AC Adapter - Provides direct power to your camera but it will not charge the camera battery
Input: AC 100-240 V 50/60 Hz Output : DC 3.0 V

* You need to check the type of adapter your using. If your using the 5V AC adapter or USB adapter and the camera won't charge the battery contact kodak support line 1 800 235 6325 (23KODAK) for possible repair.

Kodak EasyShare CX7530 digital problem

Mine did this until I folded up a small piece of paper to depress and hold the small lithium battery module detect switch inside the battery compartment, then it powered up fine for the first time in two years using NiMH batteries. After removing the paper (lithium detect OFF), it still works. Perhaps that recalibrated the low battery detect circuit?

Transferring pics

No, the camera needs its own power to power the camera's CPU, USB interface and internal memory. It has to have its own power to communicate properly to your laptop.

However if your camera uses a memory card or stick, you can remove the card/stick and plug it into your laptop and retrieve the pictures that way without using your camera.

Good luck!
