Cordless Handsets don't work

I have the GE Model 25881 corded base with answering machine plus two cordless handsets.  The cordless handsets will not connect to the base so they are useless.  I can only use the base part.

I unplugged the batteries and the AC from the base, but still no luck.  What's up?

Only the base phone works. The 2 cordless phones don't have a dial tone. I didn't understand the previous solution.

In manual it states that you need to give permission on corded base for handset to link to cordless phone.

Base handset has interference.

If you still have a regular phone about, plug it inhere the base handset is connected and see if the symptoms remain. If they do, the problem is likely with your house wiring or the phone company. If no interference on the regular set, base handset may be defective. Try it at someone else's house.

Radio Shack (hurry :) has in-line filters that may clear up line noise.

I have a GE cord and cordless speaker model: 26955-GE 900mhz phone which i have had for eight year and I would like to add another cordless phone which GE phone is compatible to what I'm currently using....

If you mean you'd like to add another handset to the base unit on this phone, I'm afraid you can't. This isn't a multi-handset phone and isn't expandable. If you want the kind of system that has the main base unit and several separate handsets, you'll have to start fresh with a new system. They aren't expensive.

Unable to talk on two handsets at same time when receiving a call

Unfortunately that is the untold story about cordless phones they only have the capability of 1 open line be it the handset or or the base. There are some very pricey multi line systems, I have the same system bought two extra handsets and found out too late that I can only use them one at a time! Sorry probably not the answer you were looking for but thats the reality...

GE Phone Model 25881

Per the instruction manual, there is supposed to be a switch on the base (look on the back or bottom) for TONE/PULSE mode. Here is a link to the manual: http://www.home-electronics.net/GE/ProductDownloads/25881EE3_IB.pdf In the "troubleshooting" section, there is this entry: Dial tone is OK, but can?t dial out: Make sure the TONE/PULSE setting on the base is set to the type of phone service you are subscribed to.
