Dell Vostro will not boot up

I have a Dell Vostro 1700 notebook running Windows XP Pro with blue screen error message: STOP: c0000135 {unable to locate component} This application has failed to start because user32.dll was not found. re-installing the application may fix this problem. My computer will not boot up, I have tried booting into Safe Mode to no avail, it still keeps rebooting; I tried booting into the last known good configuration and that did not work either.

SP2 and SP3 has been installed some time ago with no problems. The computer has Anti-Virus AVG & Spyware Doctor installed. Put the Dell XP application CD in the drive (not the Windows XP reinstall disk) and tried BOOT LOGGING via the safe screen, but get the same message. BIOS is the only access.

During startup, just before the Windows splash screen appears, you should be able to hit the F8 key for a list of startup options. It looks from your post as if you know how to do this.

One of those choices should be to disable automatic restart on system failure. (or words very similar to that.) Use this choice to get into safe mode if you can, or into regualar windows.

Once there, go to the system restore feature and restore to a date when everything worked.

This error message is a message pointing to a piece of software (as opposed to hardware, as so many of these messages are).

The next best fix is to reinstall the OS from the ground up. this may be a major hassle, depending on the data you have on that hard drive.

Good luck

I had this exact same problem happen to me with a Vostra. I tried everything you did to no avail. The only way I got it to work was to do a full reinstall of Windows XP. Even though it said I would lose everything I didn't. Since I reinstalled I never had any problems.

How do i fix a error code message 0f0075d on a dell vostro 1700 ?

Hi,

There is a possibility that this could be an issue with the hard drive. Request you to use the below link and run hardware diagnostics again:

Make a note of the error codes that appear along with the validation code (if any).

Dell Vostro 1700 won't startup - woman in need of help!!! :'(

Don't choose safe mode.

If you have in the F8 options, a Recovery Console select that and run at the command prompt:

chkdsk /r

That will look for and repair disk errors.

Otherwise, look for and select Restore my computer, from this F8 menu.

Failing that you will need a copy of Vista or XP but if you have a 64bit OS like Vista64 you will need a copy of that.

Let me know what happens. But, I won't be online for much longer so I'll send a message to a friend of mine in Ireland who can help you further since he's in a different time zone.

Worldvet
