I have managed to stop it blowing the panel but now it seem to be stuck mid-cycle and won't complete. There a re all sorts of noises and the 1st led stays on then the 3rd one illuminate. Any ideas?

Your element was initially short circuit, which caused circuit breaker trip. It is now open circuit and timer will not advance because water has not reched required temperature, recommend thermostat replacement also.

Washing machine wont work

If it's more than 6 years old, it's time for a new one. Or maybe you blew out your fuses. Try resetting the fuse box and switch off and on. Then after you switch back the power, go and try to turn on washing machine again.

Blows mains fuse

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If your Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Fuse blew on power now stuck in Protection Mode

Sounds like the out put stage of the amp is shorting, They are either 4 large transistors attached to an aluminium plate (heatsink) or one large chip with heatsink. also sounds as the driver stage went too when you switched it on the second time. If you know nothing of electronics I suggest you take it to an audio repair shop, as it is cheaper to repair than replace high power amplifiers.

My Smeg dishwasher DWF 64 SSE won't go onto rinse or dry

Easy one first try this to see if it helps

Water pre-heating
Your dishwasher may pre-heat the water. If so, and if the water entering the dishwasher is cool, the heater may take up to half an hour to heat the water.

To avoid the wait, increase the incoming water temperature before turning on the dishwasher. Do that by running the kitchen sink faucet until the water runs hot. Or increase the temperature of the hot water to the entire house at the hot water heater.

Warning! To lessen the risk of scalding, don't set the hot water heater temperature higher than 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

Did it pop the main breaker or something on the machine??? If on the machine not sure. If the main breaker to the machine, there must be wires or something shorted out in the machine...Either way if it is not obvious, I would suggest letting someone familiar with electric help you directly trace down the short.... With more detail and your knowledge of voltmeter use I can help you. Look for bad insulation on the main wires..
