You have a software problem not a hardware issue. You will find that the register may need repairing. ( Run Mechanic program in Win xx ) or to put it simply the computer forgot it has a DVD/CD you should go into control panel revome the CD drivers in uninstall or add/remove hardware. Then reboot and let Win detect new hardware as the DVD/CD let it find the drivers over the net or if you know the infoof the DVD/CD 'select from list' to add manually. Chances are though you don't have a driver disk nor would it be able to read it because you will have disabled the malfunctioning driver so it must come from the inter net or change the boot sequence in the 'set-up' to cd rom first and put the original Win disc in the CD and reboot.
Happy movie'ing! < not a word, yet.
Good Luck. Let me know.

We ran a typical Satellite A200 battery of tests, including games, applications, and a couple other areas. Time constraints limited the amount of testing we could get done before the NDA lift (and it's already a few hours late), but we will be providing a follow-up article with further testing and information. That said, if there are any specific areas that you'd like to see tested, feel free to e-mail me or leave a comment.

The Problem> Sound: Placing the mouse pointer over the ICON to the lower right of your screen should indicate the percentage of Volume your speakers are adjusted for. Right click and you get the Open Volume Mixer section. The playback devices can be your computer speakers or a separate headset with microphone. Here you can make adjustments accordingly. At the bottom are Volume Control Options that allow you to increase or decrease the audio reception. Generally, when you insert an external Headphone with Microphone into the sound port in; an automatic disconnect may occur preventing computer speakers from working. This is common with Laptops. If you lack sound, you may need to update the sound drivers, change cables, and/or check to see if the speakers work on another device.
