Runs Great until the blad is engaged

Craftsman Kohler OHV 17.5 Mod No 944.600752
Starts and runs great. As soon as I engage the blade, it sputs and caughs black smoke and labours. It cuts but really complains.

Frozen idler pulley under the tractor frame or frozen or damaged bearings on the deck spindles. With no belt tension on these items they should spin freely. If you have the know-how you can fix the problem yourself (parts are available at sears.com or elsewhere), otherwise you will have to bring it in for repair.

Briggs& Stratton 18hp OHV Intek engine will run only under a load.

Your PTO safety switch is opening intermittently. Would help if you would always add your model # such as 917.100000 that way I could look up on Sears site and tell you approx. Location of switch.

Craftsman dlt2000 20 hp kohler runs great until i try to engage blades pull up on the switch to engage and motor bogs and stalls

Now is a great time to remove the deck and sharpen the blades! In the process, you will find your problem. Look for clogs, seized bearings, freely rotating belts, etc... The problem is in the deck or drive belt. Hope this helps!

Craftsman 18hp riding mower runs & stalls when engage the blades

motor off= deck engaed turn blade should turn motor and belt fairly easy, NO remove the belt from the motor pulley with deck engaged blades should turn freely.
most decks have breaks on the pullies so if the deck is not engaged the break will be on

Do you have a switch to engage the blades or a lever..... 1st thing check to see if the blade it's jammed on something under the deck
