Pantax optio s4i un able to connect to pc
You don't need a driver.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.
Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

According to Pentax this specific problem was solved in firmware version 1.01. See http://www.pentaximaging.com/customer_care/show_firmware?firmId=1020. You can find your firmware version by holding "Menu" as you turn it on.

Your problem is part of the dreaded A90 error code these cameras get. My camera had this last year and updated firmware cured it till this month when my wife let the battery go dead and the problem returned, but firmware update won't fix it this time around.Go to Pentax site and download new firmware for camera. Follow instructions that come from Pentax on the download to install software. Its pretty easy. These are cheap cameras as far as Pentax is concerned. They only work for about 2 years, based on other users and my experience. Good luck

After formatting my PC to upgrade it I've been unable to install the USB driver software to save pictures from my Tentax OPtio S4i to my PC.
My computer isn't recognising my camera when I plug it into the USB port.
When I've tried to install the Driver using the disk I got with my camera, at the stage where it asks me to MODIFY REPAIR or REMOVE, the software I get the following showing up on display boxes:

The easiest way is to use a separate card reader. It will open in "my computer" as a removable drive. Double-click on it to open the files. You can then drag and drop them into a folder you create on your desktop or into anywhere you choose. When you're finished, use the "safely remove hardware" function to remove the card reader.
