SOURCE: No Sound from External Speakers....only from Headset plug.

Hi, had same problem.... unscrew the remote and carefully remove the back end part of the stereo-connector (very careful !) it consists of a very small switch which moves sideways..... this switch is stuck into headphone-modus. Reassemble and it will work again
Note that speakers will work if you remove the switch

Testimonial: "Super info you've given...Thanks. Was going to replace it, but your suggestion is even better. Do you have to remove the switch to remove the casing?"

Replacement part or schematic for Cambridge Soundworks computer speakers

I'm in the same predicament! I found this - it seems close, though the pins seem to be spaced closer together, but it looks like they might be bent to fit the wider PC board spacing. The rotating shaft also seems smaller - the original is larger than 1/4".
What do you think?

Logitech z3 wiring

I have a logitech z3 subwoofer with a mini-DIN-9 connector socket. It also has a volume control and 110V power cord. As best as i could trace the circuit, and using the TDA7377 stereo bridge amplifier chip datasheet, the pinout for the mini-DIN is as follows (untested):
1: L in (to vol.)
2: R in (to vol.)
3: Power (12V from transformer)
4: Standby (5V to play, 0.05mA; 0V to standby)
5: L out
6: R out
7: Ground
8: Ground
9: Ground

Connecting 3 to 4 with a large resistance (~20K ohms) should enable speaker. Pins 1 and 2 might be swapped; pins 5 and 8 might be swapped. Mini-DIN socket pin holes are numbered right to left, bottom row to top row:
9 8 7
6 5 4 3
2 1

My woofer is not working as if there is a short somewere it comes on then when moved it goes back off

sounds like the contact points on your 9 pin DIN connector are corroded. If carefully cleaning each pin sounds like too much work, a search on ebay for a male 9 pin mini-din might bring you joy. But THAT solution requires some soldering.

Had my computer rebuilt and now my cambridge soundworks GCS300 speakers will not work....what do i do

Generally speakers will not need a driver, its more likely your soundcard needs the driver - have you tried anything else rather than the speakers to get sound? If you cant get any sound at all then its your soundcard so you will need the driver for it - otherwise try the link below, its the only thing that comes remotely close to a driver for these speakers -

thx, hope this helps :)

Lost Speaker Sound

It does sound like a connector issue, don't you think?

What happens if you DON"T touch the connector but move the volume control on the controller?

Have you tried looking outward toward the source?

Dell (Altec Lansing) A425 Subwoofer Pinouts

This is a standard female DB-9 serial port.
Here are the pinouts.

Pin 1 = Left Speaker Out +

Pin 2 = Left Speaker Out - (Common Ground)

Pin 3 = Left Line In +

Pin 4 = Right Line In +

Pin 5 = Left/Right line In - (Common Ground)

Pin 6 = Right Speaker Out +

Pin 7 = Right Speaker Out - (Common Ground)

Pin 8 = Power A

Pin 9 = Power B

Jumper (short) Power A to B to turn on.
If you want a volume control you need to put one on the inputs. You will buy buy a stereo volume control or potentiometer.
Here is some info on how to do this.

Fluctuation in sound output on Cambridge Soundworks 5.1 speakers

Hi Paulus
A lot brand of speakers, like Sound Blasters, Logitech, Cambridge, has this (strange) kind of volume problem, sometimes, is the resistor, in the volume control, sometimes in the modulator for the board on the sound speakers, Subwofer.
I use a general tip is let the volume in one setting and don't move in the intermediate low volume say....9 .
from other thing, be change the speakers.
