The message "DC ERROR" means that Power Supply IC of head unit is damaged.

Husband has an apline CDE-102 STEREO. The faceplat says "Interrupt". he cannot change that. How does he fix this error message?

Hello Sandra White,

The term "Interrupt" is just a fancy way of saying Mute. Also if you could provide a bit more information as to what his Radio is doing while it says Interrupt that would be great.

Hello,
The memory wire will be the constant power wire. If it was not a constant power then you would loose the clock and channel settings.

Hello christo12385,

The DC error is most likely caused by a shorted or grounded speaker wire. Check all speaker wires, correct the problem, and then go into the sound setup settings and reset the POWER IC to ON.

DC error message

tonite while driving on a bumpy road i had the dc error right after a big bump.

according to user manual,

one of your speakers connector got lose and is touching the metal body of the car giving a shortcut

-> check your speakers wiring

my alpine cda 9856 only displays that message when my ipod dies. so your ipod pobably dies then the head unit recharges it enough in the time your resetting it that it can play again. :)

Hello eklypss2000,

According to the manual for the Alpine CDE-102, the message "DC ERROR" is displayed if there is a short to ground in the speaker wiring. Check all of your speaker wires and make sure that no bare wire is shorting against the vehicle metal or against other wires. Repair or replace the wire as necessary. After correcting the problem, set POWER IC to "POW ON" according to the instructions in your manual.

Disconnect the speaker wire plug and restart the stereo without the plug connected, the power ic option should be there now!!
I had no error message for s ground fault!!
