The compressor is the heart of the unit. As long as the unit is in good shape it would be cheaper to replace the compressor. This unit is a simple unit so all the parts hold up pretty good.

The repairman is correct to a point. It may be a weak compressor also but either way the repair is in the sealed system and extremely costly. Sorry to bear bad news. Eric
I here this alot. If you have a compressor on a gfi the compressor after awhile would trip it. The compressor start amps is usually higher than the gfi is rated. So you have 2 choices. Replace the GFI and try to find one with higher amp ratings. Or install a normal outlet for your unit. Your code will usually call for a gfi, If it does then replace with a new gfi.
To explain the start amps on a compressor depending on your model could be 10 amps. This is for a split second. However the gfi can become week after time. You can also try to plug the unit into a normal outlet to make sure everything is good on the unit. I believe it is the gfi
(bad news) Repair man came today and said the compressor has died ;- (
(good news) Westinghouse will replace compressors less than 5 years old with a new one, just ring them with your serial number (inside front door) or supply a receipt and you only have to pay for the labour ;-)
Hi!! I'm a uline authorize servicer and yes the repair man is right. you have a leak in the evaporator..remember make sure to call uline ans see if you have warranty on your seal system of the wine cooler..good luck..
U-line does make compressors as long as its not a r12 system. As far as the icemachine turn breaker off for a couple of min then try it. If same results then it could be a board.
if 10 years old then probably has a phial type thermostat. this may have 2 or 3 wires to it plus earth. connect all the wires together (but not earth) and if it is a stat problem, the compressor will start
if needs sealed system repair problaby cheaper to buy new. try removing the back wall of freezer section, is there excessive frost build up??? is the fan behind tere even running(if not replace hte fan). if theres frost built up hten look for a defrost problem. Perhaps a defrost timer, defrost thermostat, or even a bad heater assy. if you remove to coil adn find a ball of frost in 1 corner nad rest of evaporator is clean and dry, thats an indicator of sealed system problem
