Craftsman 42 inch deck won't run

You need to replace the blade clutch cable that runs between the blade engagement lever just to the right of the steering wheel and the the spring to the idler/clutch wheel on the top of the mower deck. Over time the cable binds in the sleeve/cable jacket preventing the blade from disengaging

Your belt may be on wrong or slipping.

Look under the mower to see if the drive belt has come off or broke. It is the belt that runs from the bottom of the engine to the rear axle.

You should not need to remove the deck or the clutch cable just to change the belt.

• ensure mower clutch lever is in the off position
  

• lift the front of the tractor approx 24 or more inches.

• lower the mower deck as far as it will go

• locate & remove the cotter pin from the right (discharge) side mower lift arm where it attaches to the rear of the mower

• release the lift arm from the mower deck to allow it to drop (it will hang from the other 3 points)
  

You should now have plenty of clearance to change the belt. Remove the belt from the engine pulley first and replace the new belt on the engine pulley last that will make it easier to change the belt.

sound like electric clutch not working

just wanting to know where the gas line and air filter is on a craftsman 19.5 hp twin 42 hydro is

Some of the 42 inch Craftsman mowers Have a cable that goes from the blade leaver to the deck some have a linkage if it has the cable check it to see if it has broken. Find where it connects to the deck pully and pull on the cable wire not the cable cover and see if if comes out also make sure it is connected to the top of the idler pully. If it has a linkage there is a clip that holdes that linkage to the deck it most likely came off.

Check the drive belt for the blades

Is the belt on the pulleys ? If so your cable is broke its what engages deck belt
