Homelite Backpacker II leaf blower start fine then shuts off when I engage the throttle. Seems like engine is flooding. Just installed new spark plug, not sure what to do next.

Have you checked air filter? the carb may need adjusting. locate the adjustment screw(s) , screw them all the way in then back out 1-1/2 turns. try to start the engine. then let me know what happens.

Yes. Your gas cap is clogged.Try this: The next time you run the blower, and it starts to die, loosen the gas cap. It should start to run again, then you know that it is the gas cap.
fist thing is run both the carb screws all the way in then back them off 1 1/4 turn this will be your starting point then start the blower to fine tune the carb if it starts then your carb was off giving it to much or to less fuel
