Philips tv Just bouoght a tv (Ex Hotel Model) no remote.Philips 17HT3253/05 My one for all remote works fine for basic functions but The set seems locked in hotel mode ie volume is locked at 20 cant tune or ajust brightness, colour, contrast etc .Same remote with same code works brightness volume etc on another set any Ideas or do I have to try to fine the proper remote?

Usually hotel models are rewired so they will only show basic or pay channels. If you can get into main settings and you can do factory reset(which I doubt) that may work. I assume you bout this cheap or free, Old saying states "Buy cheap But twice".

Using a universal remote with numeric keys, input this code->319753 and press mute. This has to be done quickly, and the channels will change, but ignore that.
Use navigation keys to change the settings.
If it's in High security mode, then you are pretty screwed, unless you can find the green Master remote which has a few more functions.
If in Standard mode, then a universal should be fine.
It took me DAYS to find all this out, since I just picked one up last week, and I had the same problem.
I had to use 2 remotes to do it though, since my universal is old and clunky, but I had an old Philips multi remote for a video player as well, which accepted the direction buttons ;)

Many hotel TVs have been modified to disable these functions. If you've got the original remote, you should be able to change it, if the TV hasn't been modified.

These hotel sets have a pretty complicated setup menu. You will have to get a "master remote". The hotel has the "master remote". They really should not be selling these sets without setting them up for a non comercial application. Try www.encompassparts.com and see if they list a Master remote or a service remote. I would check myself but you didn't post a model number. You have got to have the model # for encompass.

If this has been a hotel TV then you cannot tune it in manually as the Hotel Mode will be activated & can only be re set to normal TV use by using a specific code from the remote control. The only other way is to re-initialise the internal memory using software that is only obtainable from a Philips dealer.

use av1, av2 , for tuning tv- use following sequence of commands on remote hand set
319753 mute

in the menu usually a button on tv switch from antenna to cable or catv

if you remote won't work there are 7 or 8 different code choices go through them till it does work

most unversals need tv on and will turn off when code is right

also in menu is audio choices stereo on /off and so on play in there till you get it

I had the same problem the solution is you have to get institutional remote and reset the tv from commercial mode to consumer mode and then you will have access to the full menu. go to www.phillipsitv.com to get the directions. I actually asked a Hotel could I borrow their master remote used it and took it back and my tv works fine. Hope this helps.
