On the front of the droid there is a red button that lights up when turned on & turns off after a couple of seconds, depress that button to free up the droid. Its called the wheel lock control button. That should free up your R2

My interactive R2D2 astromech doesn't detect obstacles

If your Interactive R2D2 Astromech droid is not detecting obstacles and crashing into walls, there may be a problem with the sensors or the software.
The sensors on the R2D2 droid are responsible for detecting obstacles in its path and allowing it to navigate around them. If the sensors are faulty or damaged, the droid may not be able to detect obstacles and may crash into them.
The software on the R2D2 droid controls its movements and behavior. If the software is outdated or corrupted, the droid may not be able to properly interpret the sensor data and may behave erratically or unpredictably.
To fix this problem, you will need to diagnose and repair the faulty component. This may require the assistance of a qualified technician, as repairing a complex electronic device like an R2D2 droid can be challenging.

I purchased a R2D2 droid from Sharper Image before they went under. I am looking for the instruction manual. Do you know where I can find one?

Needing a replacement sensor pod for R2D2 head.

I would try online auction places(such as ebay),toy stores, collectible stores, antique dealers, and places like kijiji or craigslist.
Hope this helps.
