It is uncertain to me that if the monitor is not turning on, with a power light visible or that it comes on and but no picture. My question to you is whch is it? If the power light is on the other question is do you hear sound when you try to play a movie or whatever you use it for? If you have sound that shows me that the monitor is on and working less picture. If this is the case it could mean several things. Some of which dont have anything to do with the monitor but with your settings. Are you using a laptop to hook up to it. If so are you using an HDMI cable connection? The monitor needs to be set to the hdmi input, your laptop might need to be switched to play on the monitor rather than your computer screen by pressing the proper F key. If all of this is correct then I suspect if you have an lcd screen monitor the backlight might have to be replaced. If plasma the plasma light. If it does not have any sound and the settings mentioned above are correct then you have a power supply failure. It could be as simple as a fuse, but in the new electronics the fuse might not look like a fuse most are use to seeing. The glass kind. The new kind are only known to the trained eye. You know you might also make sure whatever you have plugged the unit into has power? surge protector etc. Whatever the case may be plug something else into the same socket just to make sure that works and you know you have power. I do not know your level of understanding so I try to cover it all.

It may have failed Backlight inverter circuits. You just need power AC cord and the VGA cable to attach to the PC VIDEO card. Try it on another PC.

Hi, once you have the External Monitor connected; go to, from the Desktop2_bing.gif Screen, right click to open window, select Personalize. Scroll to find: Display Settings. You can make all the adjustments to correctly connect the monitor, updating drivers etc. Follow any given instruction when changes are complete. "Did this solution help?"

I was given a dell 2005fpw screen by a friend and im not sure if i've damaged it. When you plug it in to the mains and turn it on it comes up with the dell screen but after that the screen flickers and im...

if the screen is flickering it could be a bad monitor. Try hooking up another known good working one if you can. If the known good working monitor works then you know the dell monitor you were given is bad. If you get the same flickering result then make sure you wait until your laptop boots up into windows then try to change the output to the monitor. If you can get a picture then try the other monitor to see if you can get a picture as well.

If you can get pictures with both monitors then you know it was a matter of changing the output on the laptop if you get a picture on one but not the other then you know one of the monitors is bad. Depending on the laptop you have will depend on what key combination is used to change the video output to the monitor.

I was given a 2003 Acer AL1916 monitor and came home and hooked it up to my old Compaq presario computer. The screen is fine but the audio is barely audible. I had speakers hooked to the side of my old...

The speakers are not supposed to plug into the monitor, they will plug into the speaker jack on the back of your computer (usually a green plug or it will have a picture of a speaker next to it)
Hope this helps
