Magnavox mwr20v6 turns itself off

I was watching a dvd and about 5 minutes into the movie, the unit turned itself off.  I turn it on and it turns itself back off in a couple of seconds.  I unplugged it and let it sit over night.  The next day, it comes on and stays on for about 5 minutes and turns itself off again.  Help!

Mine shuts itself off after 10 seconds being on no matter what I am doing with it.

Yes, same here...turn it on and within seconds to less than a minute if I get a dvd in, just shuts itself off. I have tried unplugging and plugging back in to no avail. HELP!! Played movies for about six to seven months without problems.

And are all the directions to similar machines as lengthy? I was really surprised at this, when it all seems like it should be simpler...or at least designed to be so. I just gave up trying to record and transfer from vhs to dvd, etc. and I have never given up on a machine before. Definitely FRUSTRATED and would love some advice. Thanks!

after use of almost 1 year, i started having the same problem. i turn on the unit and within 20-30 seconds it just shuts off. the display shows where the digital clock should be but you cannot keep the unit turned on long enough to set the clock. i have unplugged it for several days and no luck. i have contacted the website on the manual for help and i just got a ticket number with no results. i so thoroughly disgusted with this, any solutions.

same problem. turn power on and it shuts off as you hit play after about 10 seconds. had it for about 7 months and they want $50 upward to fix. what a ripoff. pooooorrrr quality product and you can't even get in touch with anyone to vent some frustration... TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM... DON'T PURCHASE "PHILLIPS" "MAGNAVOX" PRODUCTS ANYMORE.

Mine won't even turn on. Had about 11 months. Co. wants $45 labor. this is after trying for 3 months to get them to repair.

I have had my VHS/DVD for just over one year. One night it was fine and the next it was shutting down after 5 minutes of play on both the DVD and VHS. This seems like something that needs to be addressed by magnavox!

Change the input, look for the button on the remote or on the TV itself. Just changing the channel on the TV after powering down the VCR should also work.

Magnavox TV/VCR COMBO

Im thinking that maybe you a have a timer recording set. The whole unit wont function at all if you turn it on via power button (remote or unit). There should be a button at the top of the remote called 'timer set' pressing this will disable that mode and allow complete use of everything. but make sure u press timer set again when powering down, otherwise simply turning off the machine will leave the timer recording disabled.

Checking fuses would mean taking the unit apart. Here is a a place to download a copy of the manual. On page 77 there are some tips like pressing the timer button.

I have been using my machine with no problems, until recently. The machine will not stay on more than a few minutes when I try to use it, either watch a tape or tape a show. It starts, then just shuts down. When the machine is turned back on it ejects the tape????
Can you help, please.
