Lexmark, scanner asks for pin code and won't scan without it.

Hi there! Up to a few days ago I could easily scan documents to my computer. However, I tried to scan a document. However, after after I selected "scan to computer", the device asked me to enter PIN number... I have NO idea what this pin number is, nor do I remember entering one! So now I simply cannot scan to may computer... HELP! :) thanks, Arnon

    Here's some info on scan pin codes, it implies that something's changed on your PC configuration, not on the AIO:



    Why am I being asked for a PIN?

    PINs are a security measure used to restrict the scanned information from going into certain locations, or to keep

    what is being scanned from being seen or used by others. You may be prompted to enter a PIN if the network

    computer you are scanning to requires one.

    To learn how PINs get assigned to network computers, see the Help for the printer software associated with your

    operating system

This drove me mad for about 2 hours (I've just experienced the same problem), but have finally found the solution!

Firstly, it depends on what Lexmark you have (as different printers use different software)...

For my Lexmark which is an S600, I went into the program 'Lexmark home' which was in the lexmark folder on the start menu and in my lexmark software folder, went to 'settings' and then 'Network computer name'. From here you can set the pin.

According to people experiencing this problem with other Lexmarks, you can do this via the equivalent 'productivity suite' program through 'network settings'.

    Thank you paulyrussell. The description above didn't tell me anything that the booklet that came with my printer did. I followed your suggestion with my Pinnacle Pro and now it works great. Thanks again.

    This is what I have spent hours and hours looking for! The weird thing is that no box was checked. That should have meant that no passwprd was rrequired. That was not the case. The Lexmark simply would not scan to my computer until I entered a password and made it mandatory! Very strange. Lexmark should be ashamed they could not tel us how to get here!

How do I scan documents from Lexmark X7350 to my computer?
Make sure the Lexmark OCR scan software is installed on your computer. The software is available in the install disc that came with your printer. Scanning a document:
1 Make sure the printer is connected to a computer, and both the printer and the computer are on.

Hi fixya i have presented this problem a few days
Go to Start\Programs\Panasonic and look for the "Network MFP Utilities"
There is a "Network Scanner Configuration" software that create
s a "Location" for the scanner. The location can well be a network drive or a shared folder on your computer.
Once you create the location, the scanner will pick it up automatically so when you want to scan, you will be able to select the destination (i.e. the location you created)
You can create several locations to be able to save scanned docs in more than one place.

Won't scan photo to computer.
Scanner: Hi there, " Unplug the Scanner cable from the computer. " Unistall the Scanner drivers from Device manager and also unistall the all the Scanner appications " restart the computer " try to download drivers from the website " after installing drivers and software it will ask you to connect the Scanner. How can I scan without problems on a lexmark x3470 all in one
Hi..

To scan a document using the Lexmark Imaging Studio on ur Lexmark X3470, follow the steps given below:

1. Go to "Start," "All Programs," Lexmark X3400 series, "Lexmark Imaging Studio."
2. Click on "Scan," "Save edit or share."
3. Under "What are you scanning" choose the option as "photo," "several photo" or "documents."
4. Select the location to save as my pictures or other folder on your computer.
5. Click on "start" to scan.

To make a standalone copy:

1. Load the paper.
2. Select the "Copy quality" you want.
3. Open the top cover of the All-In-One.
4. Place the item you want to copy face down on the scanner glass. Make sure the upper left corner of the front of the item aligns with the arrow on the right of the All-In-One.
5. Close the top cover.
6. Change copy settings as needed.
Press "Black Copy" or "Color Copy."

Hi peoples. I had the same problem not too long ago. in the end i uninstalled and re-intalled the printer on my PC (with Vista OS) and have not had any issues in scanning since. Hope it works for you guys too.

How do I scann a document/picture and where does it go once I scan
Usually any scanned document etc will go to a folder in documents & settings so have a look there, another way is to scan and save it as a special name, or simply remeber the default name, and then do a search for that file and when you find it, THATs where they go :)

Usually when ya scan it should ask ya where to save?

Lexmark x73mfp scanner to windows vista
You can use the Lexmark z42 drivers that come with Vista to make it print but I doubt you could get it to scan. New MFP are a dime a dozen these days so it may be time to upgrade.

Umax astra 3400 will not preview
I had the same problem. I solved it by having acraware32, acraware and vsaccess added to my startup items. I have windows ME. Run, msconfig, startup, and add those 3 items.
