1. Make sure you are plugged into A/C.. Your battery could be running low. 2. Make sure there is nothing blocking the heat vents. This symptom is typical for overheating processors.
try to shut down the laptop. Then remove cables & battery. Press n hold the power button for 8 secs then return the cables & battery to its original place. Turn it on and check if the PC still performs very slow. If it is, call your PC provider for repair
This sounds like it might be some sort of virus or malware. Do you have anti-virus software installed? If you do, run a full scan of your system. Run it at least twice if nothing is found the first time. Windows doesn't typically tell you to press F1 to shutdown your computer.
If you don't have an anti-virus program installed, you can run the Windows Live One Care Safety Scanner from the web:
try to perform power drain first. take out the battery and unplug the adapter. pres and hold the power button 3x with 10 secs interval each.release the hold after 10 secs. then put eveyrthing back in then observe. thanks
Hold the power button down for about five or six seconds, it will shut down then. If it keeps doing this, you need to look at what is running in the background that is preventing you from shutting down via the menu.
Click START
click RUN
type in msconfig
take a look at what is scheduled to load at startup and then try to decide if you really need to have that application on all of the time. BE CAREFUL. If you don't recognize an entry, leave it alone until you can learn what it is.
Try turning the router off for 15 sec. then power it up again waite until the LEDs are on then boot up the DELL laptop.
If you shutdown both the router and the laptop and power them up together, then the wireless router may not finish initializing when the laptop boots up and therefore the wireless router doesn't get a chance to issue an IP address to the laptop.
Make sure the wireless router LED lights are on before you boot up the laptop.
In the BIOS, does it show the battery and it's current state? As weird as it sounds, I've fixed an issue like this on a D600 by updating the BIOS to the most current level. Weird, but true.
