SOURCE: DVD MALFUNCTION [MODEL PIONEER XV-DV131 (DVD/CD HOME THEATER]

I have the same problem with my XV-DV333. Search on inet and this came up: "... Pick Out One Of These! But I am unable to select any region using the remote control or the buttons on the player. What do I do? You need to get a Pioneer Service Remote. When you have it you should press: [ESC] [A.MON] [Numbers], where [Numbers] correspond to the region number you want to set. Be aware that you can only set this once, if you set the wrong region number for your area, there is no turning back. " WTF! Am I supposed to get a service remote to get this thing working again. I haven't done anything and it worked before:/

SOURCE: How to multi region my Pioneer XV-DV55

Most have "hack codes" but yours is in a select group of a few that simply cant be done with a couple pushes of a button.

As far as I am aware the only way to get thesemachines to play Region 1 discs is to have them chipped. A variety of solutionsare available, and it needn't be expensive (typically £30 to £70) but youshould be aware that any internal modifications to your players wouldinvalidate the warranty. Have a look at the following web sites for moreinformation:http://www.techtronics.com/uk/shop/50-000-dvd.html

I know you were looking for a free solution you could do in a matter of seconds and sorry it didnt work out that way. Regardless, I hope I pointed you in the right direction and feel free to ask if you have any more question.

We used a usb on the DVD and now we can't watch normal DVDs on it. We insert the DVD and the player just rejects it and opens the draw.

Pioneer region free code DV-340, DV-343, DV-444, DV-545

Introduction
The Px4x DVD Upgrade is an advanced modification to your DVD player, which adds extra features and enables you to get more from your machine. The upgrade supplements the DVD player and in no way harms the playback quality or removes any performance features of the DVD player.

Main Features
The DVD Upgrade adds the following features to your DVD player:
 Multiregion capability
 Macrovision disable

Players Supported
The following DVD players are supported by this version of the DVD Upgrade:

 Pioneer DV-340, Pioneer DV-343
 Pioneer DV-444
 Pioneer DV-545

Modification Details
Multiregion selection
Nearly all DVD discs on the market today are encoded with a specific "region" in mind and are made in such a way that a disc designed for "region 1" will not play on a player designed for "region 2". This is so that the Hollywood studios can control the release of titles in different geographical regions all over the world. Our upgrade allows you to select between regions 1 to 6.
Macrovision & CGMS disable
All DVD players have a system called Macrovision built in to the player, which is designed to stop the copying of DVD discs to video. However, this system can have adverse affects on some projectors. For this reason the DVD Upgrade disables Macrovision to solve any problems.

Operating Instructions
You can select the region code by remote. This region will be tried first when playing a disk.
Due to this design, the modification will work on the RCE (Regional Code Enhancement) protected DVD’s. In some cases it will be necessary to insert a conventional (non RCE protected) disc before playing a RCE protected disc. Follow the instructions as detailed bellow:

1. Turn the player on without a disc in it
2. On the remote control, press 'SETUP'
3. Use right arrow to select 'General'
4. Use down arrow to select 'Basic'
5. Press 'ENTER' on the remote control
6. Press 'Display' on the remote control
You should see the region code and OSD version that the player is set to
7. Press 'Condition/Memory'
8. Press '1', '2', '3', '4', '5' or '6' to change the region code of the player
The text will disappear
9. Press ' Display ' on the remote to control the region
10. Press 'SETUP' on the remote to exit. Play the disc
This dident work for me but mayby work for you.

Unlocking DVD - Pioneer DV400 k

Hi Jetix,

If the DVD player is capable of playing other regions, you should be able to change the region setting through the menu section. If there isn't an option to change the region settings in the menu, then your DVD player is not able to play other DVDs from other regions.

Sincerely,

Agent Xiong
