ASUS SoundMax install program cannot find AC 97 Audio driver
My SoundMax installation for audio driver doesn't find the driver by itself. and AC 97 Audio speaker doesn't work, with Win XP SP1, so how could I solve this problem? Or would you tell me what sort of the speaker should it suit to my PC - with the ASUS P5VD2-MX?
About ur Speaker all u need to Do is connect the Speaker to other Audio Source like ipod/Zune or any MP3 player.if the Sound Doesnt Come Means the Speaker is Bad.

The following audio driver worked for the ASUS P5GV-MX on Windows 7: SoundMAX HD Audio Driver 6.10.02.6585
I found it a website called "TechSpot" SoundMAX HD Audio Driver6 10 02 6585 and it worked like a champ!!! I spent quite a while looking for this solution so I hope this helps someone out!!
There should've been something on your ASUS CD that included the SoundMax driver. Without that you won't get audio. You might need to reinstall your CD again making sure you have installed the Soundmax driver. If you can't find it, look for Soundmax on the Internet. If the Soundmax card is properly installed you will see a little blue square on your bottom right task bar. If you click on the little arrow, you can adjust the sound volume. It also contains a wizard to help you diagnose problems.
Oh, you will need to make sure your virus programs are turned off before installing that program as well.
Ur thinkcenter does not support realtek ac 97 sound driver indeed it supports ADI SoundMAX audio driver which u can download by using following link here is the link
Not sure on the Video but uninstall the soundmax and use realtek AC-97 driver available at http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/Realtek-AC97-Audio-Codec-Driver-A397.shtml
You should install the Chips drivers or intall all the driver in series listed in your CD Utilities. Its good if you download the latest drivers of your system at www.asus.com or here: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us
Chances are that when you deleted Soundmax, you deleted the drivers as well. I am going to assume that you 'deleted' the "Soundmax" entry from your Add/Remove Programs console or chose "Uninstall" from the Soundmax folder in your start menu.
The problem is not your speakers. The problem is the audio hardware. I'm willing to bet that you don't have any drivers installed for your Soundmax audio hardware.
More often than not, when you uninstall the software for your audio hardware, it also removes the drivers for the audio hardware.
I would try re-downloading the drivers for your Soundmax hardware and reinstall them.
I am also aware that this Soundmax chip was licensed to a different company by Realtek. (They designed the chip.) You can also try the Realtek AC'97 audio chip drivers. There may be a few differences in the way the software works, though. Here you go: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=23&PFid=23&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#AC
I myself would recommend the Realtek Drivers. However, I also have an experience with this particular chipset where I installed the drivers in Windows XP Service Pack 1 or below and they worked just fine. But if I installed the drivers in Windows XP Service Pack 2, the system just reboots itself over and over again unless I use Safe Mode and uninstall the drivers.
Instead of fighting with that issue, however... I just put in a different soundcard and deactivated the onboard audio hardware in the motherboard's BIOS.
Just a heads up on that...
Good luck with this. Let us know what happens if you need more help.
Additional: Sorry, AC 97 Audio speaker power is on, but no sound.
