I had a similar problem with an Acura. Check the transmission oil level. That sometimes causes a whining sound.
Hope this helps.

Check condition of drive belt and check tension of the belt as it may be slipping under load at revs.

HIGH PITCH WHINNING NOISE IS FAULTY TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP.HAVE THE TRANSMISSION FLUID PRESSURE CHECK AT A TRANSMISSION SHOP.IF TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP TOO WEAK OR MALFUNCTION.YOUR TRANSMISSION WONT HAVE ENOUGH OIL PRESSURE FOR FORWARD GEAR , REVERSE GEAR, BAND OR SHIFT VALVES IN VALVE BODY.NOTHING WILL WORK TRANSMISSION.OIL PUMP LIKE HYDRALIC PUMP KEEPS EVERY THING WORKING..

SOURCE: AC fan doesn't work

Alright when it only works on high speed, then usually the resistor between the controls and the blower motor is bad because the default if on is at high speed so I would replace that first since it is much cheaper than replacing the blower, then if the blower is still making a bad noise, it is wearing out and needs to be replaced too. Both of these parts are under the dash on the passenger side. If you want a diagram, then I advise buying a Chilton or a Haynes manual from a local auto parts store especially if you plan on fixing it yourself. Let me know if you have any further questions.

SOURCE: when excellerating I get a high pitched humming

Might be a vaccum leak in the engine.

SOURCE: 2002 Olds Intrigue GLS makes a high pitched

that sure sounds like a vacuum leak ...the vacuum is highest when you let off the gas or at idle.. its lowest when you "give it the gas" ... you can use a small hose from your ear (or stethoscope) to listen to areas around the engine to find where the noise is coming from... check for a loose fan belt also ...check for cracked vacuum hoses .... if you suspect a bearing making the noise ... you can spray a little oil onto each bearing until you hear a difference in one ... in fact the noise might go away if thats the problem ..

SOURCE: At higher speeds, the car is making a high pitched

is it coming from the wheels?? If so, possible worn wheel bearing.

What is making this 08 caliber 2.0L sxt cvt have a High pitched whining sound at idle and driving?

Possible bearing in one of the drive pulleys. I have changed numerous alternators for this noise. Take the belt off and start the car. If the noise goes away you know it will be pulley related and not transmission related. If noise goes away, spin all pulleys by hand to determine the defective/noisy one

Could be your alternator or a bad idler pulley. Is the transmission good? It may be the tranny or your differential whining.

Continued battery drain and high pitched noise when car started

Maybe the alternator is bad. A high pitched whine could mean that the alternator is not working properly.

One can test, by removing the belt to the alternator and running the engine and seeing if the whine goes away.

High pitch noise when excelarating past 75-80 mph, seems to be coming from where the dash meets the windshield. Becomes louder and more frequent when driving in really winding conditions. it goes away when...

Well how short a drive is it.........to get you to go nuts. Is it a high pitched whine? If so look to your right. Is the wife sitting there? If so. That's the problem. Going 75-80 in a 25mph school zone will cause that. And where is the speed limit 75-80 anyway.

It's the radio, btw, install an inline filter to filter out the alternator noise.

Same problem: a high pitch whine after extended driving

Sounds like a dry/failing bearing or power steering pump noise. You first need to try to track down where the noise is originating, and the most likely place is at the front of the engine.
I would start by listening with the hood up while parked with the engine running and the noise present, and seeing if it is coming from there. If so, the most likely cause is something connected to the belt - e.g. AC compressor clutch, tensioner, power steering pump, or generator. Can also be caused by the belt just slipping (warn out belt, tensioner not working properly).

High pitched electronic/dentist drill sound when accelerating.

Probably the front differential, your probably hearing the famous differential gear whine. Change the oil, put Lucas for gears in it. You can get a hand operated oil pump to **** it out through the dip stick if it has one. Then fill it with the recommended amount.
