The high CPU useage could also be the virus scanning program running and if your hard disk has a lot of files, data etc. it would take a lone time to complete. Removing unwanted files and programs will make the virus scanning complete its task quicker.
You should also carry out hard disk maintenance at least onec a month Ie Disk Cleanup and Defrag to remove temporary unwanted files and Defrag will make your files contiguous so the hard disk does not need to work as hard and efficient.
The CPU is runnimg with a useage of 45-60% as soon as the laptop has booted up because Kapersky is upgrading the virus definition file and is running a virus check on the files stored on the hard disk. When Kapersky has finished these tasks then you will see a drop in CPU useage. NOTE as you install more programs and as your data files increase so will it take longer for Kapersky to carry out the virus scan.
it is kind of known issues with vista OS. Press ALT+Ctrl+Esc or go to task manager -> process-> you will get which process is taking much CPU usages. Then right click on the particular process and delete it. This happens most of the time because of the SVHOST.exe To get rid from it. Check one of the below solution provided on the forum. This should resolve your issue. If not then please get back with the screenshot of the task manager process window. So we can determine which process is consuming the max usages of CPU.
Have you run any anti-virus programs? Inexplicably high CPU usage is a tell-tale sign of virus infection. Computers do have fans in them in order to coll the CPU. If you don't have any viruses, it could indicate that your CPU is frequently overheating. You could need to replace it, or possibly
Please do the three finger wave (Ctrl/Alt/Del) to see what is running. Check the CPU useage. Begin stopping 'processes' until you find the one that makes your computer run at 100%. You may have to reboot several times to find the answer to your question ...
Let me know what you find out ... perhaps I can be of further assistance at that time
The 50% useage of the CPU is the problem not a fan issue. You have a memory glitch or IRQ setting causing this. Go back to basics look for a Video problem or shared memeory - does this board have onboard video, does it have onboard audio, have you installed a add in video/audio card? Check your bios settings, look at shadow memeory useage.
maybe. That's a lot of cpu useage. You didn't state the OS you are using. Is it Vista? That can be a cpu hog. Do a Ctrl/alt/delete and choose task manager. Click on the PROCESSES tab and you will see a list of all processes running. Click on the CPU heading once or twice and it will order all the processes based on useage. The top one should give you a clue as to what process is using the machine. Sometimes the browser running on a particular web site can just **** the machine to its knees. Anyway, that should give you a pretty good clue as to what is using up the cycles. You can then google on that process name if you wish to find out what it is doing. You could have some spyware running that is giving you trouble.
hi, i have written a document to fix this. if u like i can share it with u. check out myblog see if that helps you out. if not message me and i'll help you sort out this. and yes download combofix and run the tool. it will scan for malware, adware and spyware.
You have something running in the background that is eating up the CPU useage. You need to identify which process is doing this.
Use the built in task manager, using ctrl-alt-delete to bring it up, and see which process is at above 90% cpu usage. Then post back here what you find.
