Camera lens I bought on ebay a Sigma 90mm f2.8 AF macro Minolta mount lens. It works perfectly okay on my Minolta Maxxum/Dynax 7 film camera (so there doesnt seem to be a malfunction in the lens) but will not function in automatic mode on my Minolta Maxxum/Dynax 5D digital SLR. I cannot understand why not. I have another AF Sigma lens (70-210) which works in automatic mode on my 5D. I have contacted Sigma and the ebay seller but neither can help. Please can you advise me. Thanks, Martin

Yes, JoelB is correct. As the only Authorized Facility for Sigma lens in the Southeast. We do go through rechipping service wholelot. Once you give them correct model, simply Sigma will give you straight answer whether upgrade chip is available or NOT. Good luck. James. Here is our facility web site www.camerarepairjapan.com

It sounds like a CPU chip incompatability issue. Sigma has that problem sometimes but are usually very good about rechipping at no cost (at least for Nikon-mount lenses). What did they say when you asked them?

Will Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DL fit a canon D60

Sigma make this lens with different mountings (i.e. Canon, Nikon, Sony/Minolta, Pentax and Sigma). So, if you get this lens with the Canon mounting - yes it'll work with your D60. Any other mounting will not fit on your camera. Hope that helps

I have been offered a SiGMA 400mm F/5.6 manual lens for a minolta mount. Will it fit my camera? Cheers Pete

Minolta had two lens mounts. One for manual focus SLR film cameras and one for Auto Focus SLR Maxxum film and digital SLR cameras. Sony uses Minolta Maxxum lens mount.
If the Sigma 400 f5.6 lens was made for Minolta X-700 series, XG, series, XD series, SRT series, then it will not fit on your camera.

Sony a100 match ups

Yes, when Sony took over Konica Minolta they inherited the Maxxum lens mount (Minolta's AF lens mount system). the only Minolta lenses which don't work are the earlier manual focus type.

Sony have finally launched three new models which are the first to be clearly Sony designed, but they have still retained the Maxxum lens mounting.

Minolta 7000 SLR

The Konica-Minolta 5d, and 7d, both discontinued but available used on ebay and other places will work with your AF lenses, as well as all the sony alpha camera bodies. KM sold their camera business to sony, and most of the whole maxuum/alpha/dynax group of engineers went with the sale to Sony. I had a 7000, and an 8000i, and all my lenses are quite happy on the 7D I picked up a few months ago on ebay.

Minolta Maxxum lenses fit certain Sony digital cameras. Check this site as it depends on the specific model.
