Bose wave radio won't turn on

My Bose Wave Radio will not turn on nor will the display. When unplugged it makes a popping noise.

  • Anonymous May 16, 2009

Our Bose radio just  got funny numbers on the digital display. When unpluged makes a hissing sound and when plugged back in no lights, or sound.  What is the problem?  Is this common for this radio and where can it be fixed at a reasonable price?

Unfortunately Bose will not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively giving them a monpoly on repair of these units. Their web site, www.bose.com, offers to repair most Wave radios for $100 or to provide a $200 allowance towards purchase of a new Wave. Before you spend the big bucks on theis trouble-prone product though, you might want to check out the new HD radios -- better sound and MUCH lower prices than Bose.

Bose Wave Radio/CD bad static and occasional "pop"

Hi, When you change the Aux turn the radio off. Then turn it back on. As for the static move the radio to another plug or to a different room. If you have floresecent lighting it may do that too.
The cord acts like an antenna so don't bundle the cord. Good luck.

I have a Bose Wave radio AWRC-1g. The CD player

Yes you have a defective laser assembly. The 139 is a great price as buying the laser lens alone will cost you around 70 .Bose will also upgrade with any new software and will also provide you with a 1 yr warrenty.

I gave the Bose Wave Radio and 3-cd player to a friend for

Unplug and plug back in. It should go through a automatic process, ejecting any discs that are inside. If all you hear is a mechanical noise, try this again only with the disc trays facing the ceiling.

Bose wave radio wont turn on

I have one that is doing the same thing. Will your radio make a POP sound when you unplug it? I was told by Bose Tech it is 15 yrs old and they will not work on it. He told me that if it makes a POP sound that it is not the fuse or power supply???

Replace fuse Bose Wave Radio

For the AWR1-1W turn it over and there are 4 screws that you must remove. When your looking at the circuit board the fuse is just below the power supply and back of radio. If the radio makes a ‘POP’ sound when you unplug it may not be the fuse as power is getting past the fuse. I have the same trouble with mine. I called BOSE Tech and he said if it makes that ‘POP’ sound after unplugging it is not fuse or power supply. They will not even allow me to send it in for repairs as the radio is over 15 years old and considered unserviceable.

Maybe someone else can give us a quick fix.
