SOURCE: HP 6180 Printing Problems

Are you getting the paper mismatch error message?
If yes, see below...
I will ignore the normal solutions to a "paper mismatch" error such as your settings not matching your printing media. Obviously, check these first:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com

If your problem is not solved with the above steps, you have an issue with your "spot sensor" and it needs to be calibrated. Instructions:

1. Press * and # at the same time, and then release both keys.
The display reads "Enter Special Key Combo".
2. Press 3, 2, and then 9, releasing each key before pressing the next.
The display window should read "Service: R0622M" with a revision number.
3. Press the right arrow button once.
The display should read "System Configuration".
4. Press Enter or OK.
5. You will be prompted to enter serial number. Do not enter any information
on the unit.
Press the right arrow button until "media sense calibration" appears in the
display.
6. Load Paper into the unit and then press Enter or OK.
7. Media Sense Calibration process will take place.

SOURCE: hP officejet wireless 6500 printer won't print

Yes I will tell you why Kodak photo paper is a little thicker in size and you should not get this same error message if you use hp photo paper or regular photo paper.See of this helps.....

Issue The Out of Paper message appears on the computer and the product stops picking up or feeding paper. Solution Step one: Reset the product

  1. Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product.
  3. If the product is not already on, use the On button to turn it on.
Step two: Check the condition of the paper and reload it
  1. Replace any paper that is ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent.
  2. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type. Because only one type of paper can be used in the product at a time, paper types should never be mixed.
  3. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.
  4. Make sure that the stack of paper to be loaded in the product contains no fewer than 10 and no more than 25 sheets of paper.
NOTE: Do not load too much paper in the product.
  5. Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers.
  6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, try loading different brands of paper and different types of paper, one type at a time, into the product and then try printing again. If the issue persists, continue with the next step.
Step three: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays.
  1. Open a document in the program being used to print.
  2. Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu.
  5. Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu.
  6. Click OK and then click OK again to print the document..
  7. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next step.
Step four: Clean the rollers
  1. Turn off the product and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the access door to gain access to the rollers. Depending on the model, this is usually the rear access door. See the product user guide for information about locating the rollers.
  3. Clean the rubber rollers with a lint-free cloth, lightly moistened with water.
  4. Make sure that any paper rollers that rest on the input tray, which are located behind the back rollers, are cleaned. A clean cotton swab, lightly moistened with water, might be necessary to reach these rollers.
  5. Close the access door and plug in the power cord.
  6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step five: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. CauseAny of the following issues can cause the error message to appear:
  • The paper trays are empty or overloaded.
  • The paper is curled.
  • The print side, or shiny side, of the paper is not loaded in the input tray face down.
  • The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers.
  • The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly.
  • The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product.
  • The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rubber paper-feed rollers are coated with dust.

SOURCE: Cannot print on regular letter size paper on my HP

I had same problem. Try this: When you go to print, change your ink quality to "draft". For some reason, I was able to print after trying everything. Hope this works for you!

Printer will not pickup the paper from the tray. Message printer out of paper.

Have you checked for any paper jams?

If there are no paper jams, remove the loaded paper and separate the pages by "fanning" the paper

If all the above do not work, use a bit of rubbing alcohol on an earbud and clean the pickup points on the paper roller.

Hp 6500A plus won't copy

Does it still print ok? To troubleshoot you should try to copy from the glass and through the automatic document feeder to make sure it is a problem with the scanner and not a piece of paper blocking the scanning path.

My HP 6500A plus is giving an error code 0.6101 bed. Do you know what the problem is, is it practical to repair.

Do you mean the error 0x6101bed? This appears to be an error with the printer carriage or the sensors that detect paper in the trays. Unplug the USB cable if you are using that connection before trying the steps below.

Some people have solved the problem by turning off the printer and then removing the photo feed and output trays. Also remove any extras like a duplexer if you have one. Put in a sheet of plain paper. Then turn on the printer and quickly press the Menu button. Find the menu item for printer reports and select print status report (or a similar item). Push the paper gently into the printer pickup until the pickup spool catches the paper. Press Cancel and see if the printer ejects the sheet.

Some people have found that adding a few extra power on/off power cycles (5-6) helps. Then try to to move the print cartridges (gently - do not force anything) while the printer is off. While you are trying to move the print cartridges, check for any foreign objects in the printer. (A small piece of paper can cause the bed error.)

Make sure that the printer is on a firm surface wider than the printer. Pick it up and put it down again to shake things loose inside. At some point, the printer will go into a initialization step if you have solved the internal issue.

If these don't help, it may be that the internal frame and the rail that the printer cartridges ride on is bent. Then the solution is probably to replace the printer.

I hope this helps.

Why does Top tray, puls in multiple papers at once when printing?.

That usually happens to me when there's not very much paper in the tray. It sometimes helps to take the paper out and fan it so it kind of separates it. Hope this helps!

Brand new out of the box HP 6500A Plus, getting "preparing printer" msg , can't do anythin g. What should I do? Jim L.

When the printer is first powered on the printer goes through an internal test and allignment setup. This is normal, it does print a few pages for you to check that it has alligned the ink cartridges.

What you need to do is to ensure that the correct colour ink cartridge is installed in the corresponding colour coded slot. They must each be pushed in and down until their clips engage with the cartridge housing. Also ensure that there is fair amount of paper installed in the paper tray and that the slider of the left of the tray is pushed right up to make contact with the paper.

Connect the USB cable and give it some time to finish its preperation, it takes 10-15minutes.
Install the drivers for the printer, using the disk that came with the printer.

Take care!

Unable to print on network it is showing offline or load letter. How to resolve?

I can help you with your HP Laserjet 4 printer problem.

Ensure the paper is loading correctly from the paper tray by reloading paper and printing locally.

If the printer prints locally, then paper loading is not the problem. Select your printer from the Control Panel > Printers list, right click and choose Sharing to re-setup printer sharing.

I hope that helps.
