Insert the button into the special button hole foot. put the foot on the machine.Pull down the button hole lever( It's near the presser foot lever towards the back of the machine). Place your needle where you want the button hole to be. Select the button hole pattern and press on the pedal. Watch for the end of the button hole.

Do you have a 1-step automatic or a 4-step where you actually turn pattern selector for left, right, center?

Singer stuck in reverse

Usually it is because someone made a button hole and it is in the 3rd step of the button hole (Step 1 goes forward, Step 2 bartacks the end and Step 3 goes backwards to finish the buttonhole)
Make sure that the machine isn't set on buttonhole and it should begin to sew forward again. Good Luck

On the homepage at the bottom look for instruction manual & click on it
It will take you to a page where there's a box put in the model number 2932
Then click search

Singer 8280 lower thread tension not consistent and not even

clean the lint out with canned air (best thing going) then I hope the tension is still back to where it was.never change this with out going back to the first setting and keeping it noted so you know where the problem is not. try changing the needle it may be bent

The button hole option isn't working.

You can use the regular plate and you are correct in that it should make the button hole automatically. If the material does not move, the pessure on the pressure foot is not enough.

You can try the following:
First make sure you select a button hole patern.
You can also place a piece of stitch and tear paper underneath the material to help with the movement. If you dont have any, try normal tissue paper.

Hope this help you
