2003 Jetta starts for a second and dies after turning off car after drivena few miles

After driving Jetta for a few minutes or for an extended time and shutting the engine off it will not start and run for several hours later. It will start and run for only about a 1/2 a second and pressing the gas pedal it has no affect while its started. After about 30 minutes of trying to start vehicle it stops firing up at all. It will start up after few hours later. This has only happened twice in a few weeks.

Have your alternator checked,it may not be working and is not charging your battery, thats why it dies so fast and won't start again.

This could also be a faulty fuel pump relay. I had a Honda Prelude that would not restart when hot, but if I let the engine bay cool down for 10 minutes, it would start no problem.

Car had ignition coil replaced for 2nd time in a year

The crank sensor is causing the car to die. When it gets hot the resistance builds up and it will not read the crank signal. Then the car will die. When it cool the sensor will read again. You wont get spark if the crank sensor is not reading the ecm doesnt see the signal and will not allow the coil to fire.

2003 Jetta 1.8T looses power while driving

Easy DIY is to change all fuel, air, and oil filters, do full tune-up, and change ignition cables, too. See if problem goes away. Take a look at coil, too, those cars have a known coil issue and it needs replacement every 25,000 miles
