Did you try using Safe Mode? Hit F8 when its booting and choose safe mode. See if that will let you boot into the OS.

ThMy Dell inspiron b120 couldn't shut down?

Stuck process. Use Ctrl-Alt-Del to see what is not responding, kill the process.

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. In Startup tab, uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. It will make Windows boot faster and use less resources while running. This just disables them in startup. Programs will still load, but when only you initiate.

How can i increase shut down speed of x44h laptop

Try disabling startup programs. Go to Start > Run (search in Win 7) and type MSConfig. Startup tab and uncheck anything that you don't want Windows to load automatically. You can also use a 3rd party application like TuneUp Utilities.

My Presario CQ60 is stuck in recovery manager mode. I keeps going to startup repair.

Problems starting up a PC can be tricky to fix, since Windows hasn't had a chance to load its arsenal of troubleshooting tools. Some people simply give up and reinstall Windows.

Startup Repair can prevent a time-consuming reinstallation by diagnosing and repairing problems that prevent Windows from starting.

Startup Repair is designed to start automatically if Windows detects a startup problem. For more information about using Startup Repair, and what to do if it doesn't start automatically

My computer runs window 7 and it keeps shutting down for no reason and also it keeps freezes for sometime.

Reboot the computer in "Safe" mode and run it for a while and see if the same problems occur. If it doesn't, then I would suspect it is a software and not a hardware problem.

If you think it is a software problem, reboot the computer into safe mode again. Now click the start button and in the search box type MSCONFIG

When the window pops up click the "Selective Startup" button and then on the startup tab. Deselect all the checked boxes, click apply and ok, reboot the computer normally.

Now only the essential services will load and no programs will automatically load. If the computer continues to run normally, then you can go back into MSCONFIG go to the strat tab and start checking a few boxes to start again, like antivirus and malware first. Reboot the computer and see if it freezes with those programs running....if it does then you know one of those is the culprit, if not click a few more on and reboot until you find the trouble software.

Pavilion dv7 keeps shutting down

  • This may not fix your issue but its worth a try ...let me know how it goes
  • If the computer appears to shutdown and then attempt to restart without displaying an error message, do the following to disable the automatic restart on error setting.
    1. Click Start , right-click Computer , and then select Properties .
    2. Click Advanced system settings , grant permission to continue if prompted, and then click the Advanced tab.
    3. Click Settings in the Startup and Recovery section of the Advanced tab.
    4. Deselect the Automatically restart checkbox under System failure .
    5. Click OK to close the Startup and Recovery window, click OK again to close the System Properties window, and then close the Control Panel window.
    6. Restart the PC.
Disabling the automatic restart setting allows time to view the error message that displays on the screen. Contact the manufacturer of the program or device that is causing the error for specific information about the error message.
