Electrolux L E Canister stopped working

MY reliable L E suddenly stopped while I was vacuuming. It won't restart whether or not there's a hose attached. I wasn't aware of any problem at all and I'm wondering if there is a fuse that might be blown and if so, how to find and replace it. Any ideas welcome! Thanks.

It sounds like it may be a bad control valve assembly, which is found inside the machine. This part is controlled by the dial on the top of the vacuum and does wear out eventually.
If you've got a clean bag in the vacuum, this is the most likely cause. There may be other things that could cause the problem.
This is a repair that needs to be done at repair shop, I recommend one that has personnel trained in repairing the older style Electrolux vacuums like yours.

SOURCE: vacuum hose replace electrolux how to

YOU DON'T SAY IF YOU HAVE THE NEWER HOSE OR THE CLASSIC ONE WITH THE STEEL TIP (BETTER DESIGN). IF IT'S THE LATTER UN-SCREW THE SCREW CLOSEST TO THE STEEL TIP,TAKE A SMALL SCREW DRIVER AND LIFT THE THE PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT WAS SCREWED DOWN JUST ENOUGH TO SLIP THE HOSE OUT.
WHAT YOU'LL BE FACED WITH IS SOMETHING I WOULDN'T SUGGEST CUTTING.
IT MAY BE MORE PRACTICAL BUYING A NEW HOSE. AN ELECTROLUX WILL LAST FOREVER,BUT YOU DO HAVE TO REPLACE THINGS LIKE THE COMBO DUST/UPHULSTRY ATTACHMENT. THE HOSE IS PROBABLY THE FIRST THING YOU WOULD NEED TO REPLACE BECAUSE OF AIR LEAKS. I'VE HAD MY OLYMPIA ONE FOR 27 YEARS AND HAD TO REPLACE THE HOSE ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. YOUR CHOICE.

SOURCE: Electrolux Advantage Series canister vacuum

There is an area on the back of the tank where you will see lines, put your thumb there and pull the top half of the tank towards yourself. That should open the machine so you can replace your after filter.

The easiest solution would be to call your local Aerus/ Electrolux representative, because the corporation doesnt publish diagrams.

SOURCE: electrolux canister special edition problem

If this canister has a "bag full" light and auto shutoff, there is an internal diaphragm switch controlled by a dial on top of the vac. Set the dial for medium setting. Install a fresh bag and test again.
There is a pinhole in the throat of the vac which allows air to flow through a tube to the diaphragm. Check to see that it is not blocked with a grain of sand. There is a second pin hole in the corner of the bag chamber check there as well for blockage. If this vac is less than 20 years old the control valve for the diaphragm often cracks and needs to be replaced. You would access it by peeling ( like a banana) the soft rubber bumpers off the side of the vac and sliding the locking keys underneath the bumper out the front end of the vac when the bag door is open. Then gently popping the housing apart from FRONT to back. DO NOT try to pry the back housing off. Caution, this is normally performed on a cradle in a repair shop designed to hold all the components in place

Where is the CVA located in the Electrolux Epic 6500SR?

You need to replace the control valve. It's inside the canister under the dirt cup. If you want it done by a professional, call your local authorized Aeurus dealer.

My electrolux oxygen canister vacuum stopped working while using it last night. i have change the bag, checked the hose, checked the filter and waited overnight to try again. Still not working. what...

It could be the electrical contacts in the canister. These are a cheap set-up and can easily be pushed out of reach of the hose contacts. They may test good when using a multimeter on them, but the prongs of an MM are generally longer than the prongs on the hose, so this can lead to a bad reading.
It's also possible that one of the circuit boards has gone bad. These are quite expensive to replace.
Take it to a Sears service center for a better diagnosis and estimate of repair. It may be cheaper to go with a new vacuum. Read review of vacuums being considered prior to purchase.

Electrolux Canister - Stops working after 1-2...
Our vac works for a short time, then shuts off and makes clicking noise as if trying to restart again. Works after cooling for a while but for another very short time. Your suggestion on fix would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure
I would advise that it could be a thermal switch or a regular switch that the thermal switch is over heating and needs replacement – there are small hoses in the door section that could have been pinched or kinked and it stopping the air flow from the vacuum – also check for a clogged or plugged vacuum hose, a full vacuum bag or a dirty vacuum filter. Check the thermal switch or reg switch or the hoses in the door. Or feel free to contact your local vacuum dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or call the factory @ the phone number listed below:
