Bought a universal remote for craftsman/sears garage door, now our neighbors can open our garage with there universal remotes..help how do we stop this

I would go ahead and change the password on the remote and then I would REPROGRAM the remote with the garage door mechanism. It is supposed to have a rolling code. Perhaps your neighbor,s password is coincidentally the same as yours. Stranger things have happened. Below is a link to your instruction manual on-line.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Mark

Our remotes (2 for the car and a keyless entry) stopped working. We erased everything (and checked to make sure our remotes weren't working) and reprogrammed all remotes. They work, but our neighbor's...

Make sure your neighbor doesn't have a remote with a sticking switch. Often times a person will stick an extra remote in a drawer and then place something on it that holds the button down. Try programming your remotes this way just in case you didn't.

Press and hold the button down on the remote while you press and immediately release the smart/learn button. Sometimes it can help if you are in the garage when you program your remotes this way and it will drown out any distant signal.

This problem was exposed on a popular news program some ten years ago. There's a number code inside the remote that you have to change, and set the garage door opener to the same code. It should solve the problem.

My Liftmaster 373LM remote and wireless 377LM Keypad not working

You should have a small wire hanging down from the back of the opener. This is the remote control antenna wire. Strip off about and inch splice a wire to it. The connections is just twisting the wires together. Run the extended wire up to the ceiling and down the wall where the door is located. Most of the time in the top corners where the weather stripping is, there is a small gap. Slip the wire through the gap so the wire extends outside of the door. The key to this is getting the wire outside. 99% of the time this extension of the antenna will be enough to conquer interference issues. You are correct that you are running on 315mhz and the military will not affect it. Let me know if it helps

Neighbor opening our garage door

Report this problem to the Manufactuer stating your model number of controller and remotes too and they may help solve your problem faster than getting offside with your neighbour, apart from that the remotes and motor controller may need replacing to give you more security and control over your own secure enviroment,

I have fitted many security devices,alarm panels,cameras,sensors,keypads,etc,
and never had to repair this type of fault as the supplier or manufactuer has always assisted with their products thru warantee or advice,

I have 20 years of experience in the industy in NZ,Thanks MISTERDJ

Garage door opened by neighbor

Have you seen the neighbor open your door? The reason I ask is because it is almost impossible. The most common cause of a door opening by itself is a bad wall control or the wiring leading to it. You can temporarily eliminate both possibilities by removing the wire from terminal 1 at the rear of the motor unit. Do this and ask your neighbor to bring over his remote and try it on your opener.
