Does it shut down, or shut off?
Shutting off can be a heat issue where it gets so hot it shuts off to protect itself. Check the processor fan to make sure it is spinning, clean out all the dust in the system. BE CAREFUL TO REMAIN GROUNDED SO YOU DON'T SHOCK THE COMPUTER WITH STATIC ELECTRICITY!
Shutting down could be a virus, an installation program in a loop, and whole number of issues that would be too long to go into here. If this is the case, call a professional.

I need to restore my compter to facotory using system recovery and I don't have the disk. I have a Emachines EL1850G-42W

Hi christoph73030

You have three choices..
1...Try to do a system restore to an earlier date.
This will take your comuter back to an earlier time when it was operating good, pick one of the darkened dates before your troubles started..
To do a restore: Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Restore
2...Buy a restore disk from Emachines
3...Buy and Install a new operating system...
Sorry for the bad news

Installed XP to my emachine EL1850G-42W, cant get connect with internet, what's the model of it enthernet controller?

HI.
Your eMachines computer has an integrated network card, not a pci type of card.

It is a 10/100/100 network, so it will work well with both personal and business class internet services at high speeds.

Now, if you wish to go wirelessly to the internet, then you will need to get a wireless network adapter.

Those usually go for around 30-40 dollars at WalMart.

I hopre that this is what you were wanting to know, and good luck to you.
