These don't have a USB Charging cable. They have a USB Data Lead Same as Printer lead and a Power adapter and charging lead. Well mine does.

It's not a 'charging lead' as the unit has no battery. It is a Power Adapter that delivers 12 volts to run the HD Motor the same as if it was in a computer. You can get them on Amazon for around $15.

What you are after is an AC adapter this model I found on ebay has 120 volts to 240 volts to 12 volts make sure the DC voltage output matches the Voltage of your hard drive. The current output has to be the same amount or larger in value. So if your drive needs 2A a 2A or larger value means it can handle the current load put on it by the Hard drive.

Log in to your laptop as the administrator, it should install automatically (Windows will recognize it).

They are dual voltage 5v and 12v

There could be. Best thing to do is remove the hard drive from the enclosure and try it on another enclosure or connect it to a desktop computer as a "slave" drive.

If you're still not able to access the drive then it could very well be a hardware issue which can be VERY EXPENSIVE to fix.

I got one with the same problem. I opened up the case and hooked up the hard drive to a generic usb to sata adapter that i picked up on ebay and it works fine now if a bit clunky looking.
