Engine runs on choke but dies without?Special tool to adjust hi /lo carb settings?

Your main jet in carburetor is fouled and needs to be cleaned out. The choke circuit bypasses it but when you remove the choke the gas is supposed to go into engine via the main. If clogged, the engine will quit for lack of fuel.

Either clean the carb and jet or replace carb. And yes, newer carbs have basically non a adjustable jets which is ridiculous since each engine is unique and has to be properly matched to new carb. Way around this is by either buying the special tool (he-- with them) or using a dremel tool to cut into head of adjuster a slot so that you can use a regular flat blade screw driver to adjust.

I have a homelite 33 cc bandit cannot get carb tuned. And have hard time Getting it started when it does start it runs wife open what Tools do I need to adjust carb

It is more likely that you have a problem with a sticky check valve in the carburetor. I recommend sticking it in a $20 jewelry cleaner for 10 min and replacing any cracked or rotted hoses. this machine is meant for 50-75 hours of use. Stihl and a few other brands still make machines meant for years of service. Aside from this switch over to a ethanol free fuel which you can purchase at stores like www.arcolawn.com Good luck Joe

I do not have a tool to fit the needle valves (2) on this carb.? Is there a generic?

I am going to assume you want to adjust the carb. The manufactures make it difficult for you to do this because:
The carbs are preset from the factory to give the best performance and best EPA (emissions)
You can get carb adjusting tools from amazon and other sources. Just do a search for that term.
Before you adjust the carb I suggest you clean the fuel system. Remove the air cleaner and shroud around the carb and spray the carb down with carb cleaner. If you have an air cleaner, replace it. If it is a foam style clean it with Dawn dish detergent. Add fuel stabilizer to your gas/oil mix or 1 oz of Sea Foam brand carb treatment to a gallon of gas/oil mix.
A good cleaning is probably all you need and adjusting the carb will make matters worse.

Trimmer will start but as soon as i depress the trigger it dies. I have had to replace the primer bubble and in doing so made sure the gasket was put back on properly IT JUST WONT STAY RUNNING can you...

Your trimmer is starving for fuel. If it is less than 18 months old, my guess is that it just needs a carburetor adjustment. If it is older than 18 months, it should have the carb cleaned and rebuilt, or replaced. Check with homelite.com for the cost of a replacement carb, sometimes they are less expensive than having the old one repaired. If it just needs an adjustment, find a local repair shop to do it for you. Homelite requires a special tool to adjust the carb, and won't sell the tool directly to consumers. Some shops will sell the adjustment tool. No special tools are required to replace the carb, just basic tools.
Good luck!

24cc craftsman 2 stoke trimmer. took apart everything and cleaned. new fuel lines. cleaned air filter. ran fine saturday. now sunday bogs out while trying to throttle up or just stalls.

Low side adjustment on the carb needs to be opened up or the carb needs to be overhauled. To open up the low sie, find the carb jet adjustment screws. The screw closest to the cylinder is the low side. Turn the screw counter-clockwise 1/2 turn. You may need to romove tho plastic locks from the adjustment screws, or if it is fairly new, you may need to buy a special tool to use on these screws. The tool is available anywhere that sells Poulan parts. If adjusting the screws doesm't fix it, the carb will need to be overhauled or replaced. Check with www.searspartsdirect.com . Replacement carbs are sometimes cheaper than an overhaul.
Good luck!
