What makes you think that.
or what tests , prove that.
btw, if the PCM thinks (by any means) that SPARK is bad, it will in fact cut all fuel. (no crash and burn like on TV @!)
so spark is first. not fuel.

see why? and the engine cant use fuel if spark is dead.so 2 reasons.
this is a jeep Grand Cherokee, commander,
and what engine, they have many.

I was in a accident and the engine light stayed on after the fuel cutoff button was reset. Is it a matter of resetting something in the computer?

Have the car scanned to extract trouble codes. May be a fuel cutoff code or may be something else. The scanner can clear the codes, but make sure you write them down before clearing. If the code is anything other than fuel cutoff, report back.

Getting no power to fuel pump put new in also put new relay checked relay power getting power

This can sometimes happen if the car has been hit. (Or if the onboard diagnostics believes the car has been hit) The Fuel cutoff switch may need to be reset, but it can be located in multiple places. Places I know of that these have been found in:

Look in the trunk, behind the upholstery, along the left or right side

Look below the dash or glove box, passenger side (above where passenger's feet would rest)

The fuel cutoff switch is not kept in a hard to get to place, it is just placed out of the way.

Hope this helps.

Car won't start right away after refueling

I just fixed a similar problem on a Toyota Corolla. I'm not certain if your car's EVAP system setup is the same, but this could resolve your problem as well. Your car may have one or both: A refuel check valve, and/or a fuel cutoff valve. Generally these are located off of the fill tube, but the cutoff valve may be mounted on the fuel tank. 01e0b34.jpg
The problem occurs when your fuel tank is overfilled and/or gas flows into the EVAP line. The gas is too high in the filler neck thereby causing fuel to flow into the charcoal canister. A defective refuel and/or fuel cutoff valve would cause this problem. The cutoff valve prevents fuel from flowing into the canister, and the refuel valve helps to trigger the gas pump to stop.

Test refuel check valve (if installed) by blowing air from larger to smaller port. Air should not flow freely and the valve should open as pressure increases. Air should flow freely when blowing from smaller to larger port. Replace valve if it fails either test.

Test the fuel cutoff valve by holding it upright, as installed on car; air should flow freely. Turning upside down should prevent airflow. Also, fuel present in the check valve may indicate the tank was over filled meaning you possibly have fuel in your charcoal canister.

Is your engine warning light on? For the Toyota, code P0441 "Incorrect Purge Flow" was present. Just replacing a defective valve may not get rid of the code. It's possible that your charcoal canister was saturated with gasoline too so that may need to be replaced. I also heard of a situation where the fuel tank was contaminated and had to be cleaned.

Replacing the cutoff valve solved my problem. Good luck! Related Link: http://www.2carpros.com/forum/1998-toyota-corolla-vt190664.html

2002 Madza 626 4cyl car will not start. Has spark

It could be: clogged fuel filter, bad fuel pump, or the cutoff switch. Could be fuel pump relay. It's in the engine compartment fues block, and labeled "Fuel Pump"

If it's either the filter or the pump, replace both at the same time, it's cheaper.

The fuel cutoff in located in the trunk, along the driver side rear fender, you have to pull all the carpeting and such out on that side to get to it. It's marked "Fuel cutoff" Not sure on the 626, you might just have to push the reset button on the module.

However I doubt this is your problem I would think it's either the relay, the filter or pump.
