Bernina activa 210/how do i switch reverse sewing back to statight stitch

Do you mean the Bernina Activa 145? If so, you can press and hold the Reverse button. The button is to the right of the needle bar; it's to the left and below the needle stop Up/Down button. The button is indicated with a raised U with an arrow at the top of the right side of the U. Note: this "quick reverse" will only work if the stitch length is <= 3mm. If you want to sew in reverse without holding the Reverse button, quickly press the button twice. Press the Reverse button once more to sew forward.

is sounds like their could be a short in the machine or the
computer main board could be going out. I suggest having the
machine check by a sewing machine technican

it's very possible that the machine is slightly out of time & needs to be service at a sewing machine shop
is the fabric & thread & needle compatable with each other?
did you use every thread guide when threading the machine?
is the bobbin in correctly?
is the bobbin warped?

Some machines will not do any of their automatic forwards and backwards movement type stitches in reverse, are you trying to reverse in straight stitch or a more complex stitch.

The Activa is a late model quality machine, do you have a Bernina dealer locally you could ring up and ask or take it to?

Sounds like your zig zag stop is out of position, simple adjustment for a tech.

Make sure that your needle is in properly the flat of the needle goes to the back
