Generator not powering RV

A few months ago my inverter/battery charger got wet and shorted out. I put a new one in the rv. Everything works when rv is plugged in. I fired up the generator yesterday and it will not click over and power the rv when it is unplugged from power. could it have blown a fuse somewhere when the inverter shorted? or did I not get the right inverter to work the generator?

You need to find out if the generator is providing any power at all, when its not connected to the RV, get it to power something else. If it does that OK you have to suspect the inverter or some of the wiring in the RV, did any wiring near the inverter get wet?

Testimonial: "yes, some wiring got wet. A water line broke. I will check the generator. It was working fine before the inverter went out. I will also check the wiring around the inverter."

SOURCE: Rv Generator does not turn on inside power, but cranks great

The regulator could be inside the gen. Maybe under one of the covers on the front. I'd poke around and take a cover or two off and look it over. You may be surprised!

SOURCE: I am installing an RS3000 inverter in my RV.

Please remove the belt off the altanator then turn the key on if the altanator spins with the key on in the run postion then yo have a bad diode trio in the altanator, if that checks out them you need to test all wall scokets unplug the refrigerator and see if you get the fault code also unplug the lights one at a time to see you get a fault code. the most common problem would be the florsent bulbs. hope this helps.

How many watts are needed to start the aircon unit

The minimum wattage needed to start a air-conditioning unit is usually 3000 watts but there can't be anything else at all using power at the time. If this is on an RV there are components such as the refrigerator, water heater, power inverter and house battery charger that will automatically start when the RV is connected to the generator. These may need to be manually shut off sometimes at the main power box.

Dc lo keeps blinking on the fridge and lights go low in rv, power converter middle light is blinking green

The battery is not being charged OR is no longer accepting a charge.

The inverter does not charge the battery. An inverter consists of components that first convert the battery's low (12) volt "direct current" (DC) power used to power automotive devices to a higher (120) volt "alternating current" (AC) power that is required by nearly all household appliances to operate properly.

The charging of the battery occurs when either the RV's engine is running and spins the alternator, etc. OR when connected to another charging device - whether it is permanent or portable.

With the RV engine running, there should be about 13.5 - 15 volts, DC on the battery posts or terminals. This voltage is coming fromt he RV alternator and since it is greater than the 12 volt battery, "charges" the battery. If you use a portable charger - that is part of a generator, or plugs into a power port at a camp site, etc. this will charge the battery.

When none of these things is happening, the battery voltage will slowly drop. Once it is at ~10 volts, it is "dead" and will need to be recharged.

The battery will no longer accept a charge if a "cell" inside it has "opened" or "shorted", or if the battery is at the end of its useful life. The battery state can be checked quickly by any mechanic.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Xantrex inverter/ charger smells like burning electrical

I would call or e-mail the manufacturer of the inverter. The dealer or dealers may know the issue but likely the manufacturer will be more help.
Some devices like an inverter will have a smell in the beginning, power supplies are like that. You said that the inverter didn't get hot but smell indicates something is hot.

Freedom Combi inverter/charger stopped working with the remote inside the RV. Replaced remote but still didn't work. I have to press inverter button inside RV, go to inverter outside RV and press...

Sounds like the link between the inverter and the remote is bad. Chaffed wire, broken wire, etc may be the culprit.

You should still have the shorting jumper that came with the Freedom. Put the jumper into the AUX port, and you should now have local control of the inverter. If so, then replace the wiring between inverter and remote.

Audiovox 2 way family radio charger (for 4 radios). Plug in RV and no lights displayed indication it's charging. Remove inline fuse and it's ok. Put fuse back in and orange lights come on indicating it's...

It sounds like you have some corrosion on the terminals. Remove the batteries and with a good light source look at the springs and plates to make sure there is no corrosion. If there is remove it with crocus cloth. Check the batteries also for corrosion. If you find any remove it the same way. If after cleaning everything the batteries still will not charge get new ones as you probably have one or more which are shorted.

I have a 2003 Dynasty and we're having an electrical problem that has just about puzzled everyone I've spoken with ! It all began over 2 years ago when I started the generator and the engine , to return...

Sounds to me like a problem arises when auxiliary batteries are getting charge from more than one source at a time. When unit is plugged in, or generator running, that supplies one source of charge to batteries, when you start the engine, that supplies another. perhaps it's sensing an overcharge condition when this happens, and is warning you that when you put too much charge at once to deep cycle batteries, you may boil them, and cause premature failure. Personally, if it were me, I'd disconnect the charge line from the alternator, and put it on a switch, that I could shut off, and on as needed, and be done with it. When generator running, shut it off. Double check operation of your battery isolator as well. If 2 strong sources start charging those batteries too fast, that's not good. I'd also think about, or discuss with an electronics guy about adding a diode to charge line from inverter/converter, to stop any possible feedback from alternator when engine running. That said, It shouldn't take more than 1/2 hr, to find charge line from alternator to batteries, and put a switch in a convenient spot in unit, to connect and disconnect as needed. Cheap and easy solution.

Roof top rv air conditioner installation

Waeco manufacture a rooftop A/C with a matching inverter.you will need to ensure that you have enough battery power when staionary but your al;ternator will provide power when mobile you could also use a small generator through a battery charger to keep your batteriesd charged up but this is not neccessary unless you are stopped for a long period of time.these units are fairly easy to install and come with fitting instructions for the A/C and wiring kits for the inverter..hope this helps

Non-operational in RV when Onan generator and Xantrex inverter are on

Are you still under warranty with your RV? If so, take your RV back to them and try to get this problem fixed through them. You know more about electronics than I do (LOL) however, I do believe the RV sales/repair should be taking care of this issue for you.

I on the other hand own the Majestic brand washer and dryer and I am very dissapointed with them. The washer is broken already and is only 15 months old. Ugh!

Good luck, I hope your issue is a simple fix.
