PLEASE NOTE THE CORRECT MODEL IN THE SUBJECT LINE: NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR LIST BELOW, SO I MADE THE NEAREST SELECTION IN ORDER TO CONTINUE.
2 problems suddenly today, maybe connected:
1. Trying to set up for
recording for tomorrow and next day - but no programmes showing in the
TV Guide past today - just blank spaces where usually we see the names
of programmes to come. Help, please! Just suddenly happened evening.
2.
Earlier today, trying to set to record from BBC Radio 3 later in the
day - in preparation, no sound on Radio 3 or 4, but all other radio
channels sounding normally. Recorded it, but no sound at time either

I believe he is right about those models being basically the same. They often make small changes like the layout of connectors so that they can have different models to sell to each store. It defeats the "price matching" ads some stores use. It sounds like one of two issues. Either a bad capacitor (a very common problem on this model, apparently) or a heat issue. Since it seems to happen every time, even if the machine has been offline for a while, and it takes so little time to do, I'm inclined to throw out the heat issue. Open up the back and see if you see any capacitors leaking, or crooked. I can't find images for capacitors in your machine, but I did find a site about bad capacitors on PC system boards - the capacitors are basically the same thing, so it might help you identify that. http://www.badcaps.net/pages.php?vid=5 If you do see bad capacitors, either solder on new ones, or just replace the entire board. It should be simple to replace. I can't find parts for this online, but you should be able to get them either from Sharp or from a local repair shop.

SOURCE: SHARP aquos 1080p HDTV: VCR image flickers when playback
I have the same model TV and the following worked for me. I am using A/V cables attached to Input1 on back of the TV.
On your Sharp TV remote control:
1. Select the Input (1-5) that is attached to your VCR.
2. Go to the menu and select options.
3. Change your color system to NTSC.
This should stop your picture frome flashing on and off.
You still may have a issue with the screen colors. I don't know of a way to address this, other than to make the picture monochrome.
Hope this helps.
SOURCE: No sound on Sharp Aquos 37' LC-37D4U
I had the same problem on my 37" Aquos. Sound went out about 8 months ago after 4 years. Technician said it was the Sound Power Supply. Total cost to fix was $440. $250 for the power supply and $170 for labor. Has worked fine ever since. When I asked for the old power supply he said he had to give it back as a trade in. I don't believe that so I don't really know if the power supply was the real cause.
Now I've lost sound on 4 channels on my 20" Aquos. Great picture, but wouldn't buy another Sharp product.
