Motor making loud buzzing noise

A motor on one of my precor c956i machines has a loud buzzing sound to it when turned up to higher and higher speeds. It still runs smoothly and stops normally and what not, but the noise will still continue and stay constant over time.any suggestions?

The grinding noise could be asking for lube. If that is possible, do it.

SOURCE: Precor M9.21 Treadmill - Stops under load

This probably did not happened suddenly right? the problem is not the motor however you can easily check the blue capacitor for peace of mind. with the power disconnected, disconnect one side off the capacitor from the top. with a ohm meter put the 2 probes on the cap,you will ear a temporary beep sound from your meter, then reverse your probes on the capacitor and again a temporary sound that mean your capacitor is good and your motor will run OK.

Your problem is more then likely your run belt and bed assembly. When new, these are coated with a wax of some kind for slipping, has you use the machine wax wears off, and so is the belt. You can see a black rubber dust at the rear of the machine. And so resistance increase when pressure is applied on the running belt.

Just behind the on/off switch where the power cord goes in, there is a auto reset 15 amp breaker that trips when too must resistance against the motor increase the amperage over 15amps. At 7 min/m on your speed setting and if the belt is adjusted correctly with nobody on, the motor pull about 6amps, with someone like me 180lbs, the motor pulls an avg of 10amps with a new belt.

If you have a clamp amp meter you can test it yourself.

2 parts you will need to fix this; 50985-101 (bed assembly) and 36355-101 (run belt 17 X 110) This is real easy to install.

make sure these parts are for your machine model # as they did increased the width of their belt over the years

Since 1998 I had to replace these parts 2 times with an average of 3 people using the treadmill every day. This is a good machine and if everything else is good it's worth it. I paid $300 for these parts, i'm sure if you shoppe a little you can do better.

Have a good one

When I turn the machine on it makes a buzzing noise, (not loud but it might be like an alarm).

If the mixer is still running and making the buzzing noise one of the electrical contactors is making the noise and should be replaced.
If the mixer is not running and just making a buzzing noise it can be because off single phasing, check the incoming supply to the mixer and make shore you get the right voltage to the motor (test on motor connection terminals)if the voltage to the motor is right the motor might be faulty

I have a precor c956i and got error 27 on it, what can i do to resolve probmem? thank you

Precor Error 27, Too Much Drive Motor Current Probable Cause 1. The running belt and/or deck are badly worn.
2. Drive motor is shorted or de-magnetized causing a high power demand.
Corrective Action
  1. Check the amp draw using a clamp on AC volt-amp meter during loaded and no load conditions and compare values to a similar treadmill that is known to have a good running belt and deck. Replace the belt and/or deck if necessary. Don't forget, some units have a double sided deck which means it may be flipped over rather than replaced if it has an unused side.
  2. Test unit with a known good drive motor. Replace drive motor if necessary.

C956i Precor is displaying Error code 44 ?

Precor Error 44, Un-commanded Lift Motion Probable Cause 1. Intermittent or bad connection in the lift position sensor(potentiometer).
2. Lift position sensor (potentiometer) is bad.
3. Lower PCA is bad.
Corrective Action
  1. Bad or intermittent connection of the lift position sensor (potentiometer) is the most common cause of the error 44. Inspect all wiring and connections related to the lift position sensor (potentiometer). Repair or replace wiring connections as necessary.
  2. Monitor the lift position number displayed while operating the lift in diagnostics mode. If the reading makes large changes or is erratic, the lift position sensor (potentiometer) is likely bad. Replace the lift position sensor (potentiometer) or lift motor if the lift position sensor (potentiometer) is internal to the lift motor.
  3. If the lift moves without any command entered either manually or through a program, replace the lower PCA.

Dryer has started to make a loud sqealing when it starts and gets up to speed, the kind of sound a loose fan belt makes on a car, and now just makes a buzzing sound when the button is pushed but dosen't...

If you push the start button and you here a buzzing sound, This sounds like the motor is bad.

Somthing you can try and this might not work. but open the dryer door and turn the drum a littel bit then close the door and try to start it. If it starts running again then you have hit a bad spot on the motor.

If it just still just makes the buzzing noise then the motor is most likley bad.
