Please do these test and fix it. God bless you

  1. Controller is confused A power surge or random non-reproducible action of the universe may have resulted in the controller's program ending up in an infinite loop. Pull the plug for a minute or two to reset it.
  2. Defective Interlock switches This can result in the controller thinking the door is open and ignoring you.
  3. Cleaning Cleaning solutions (spray cleaner) may have gotten inside and shorted out the touchpad or controller. If this happens remove the touchpad, let it air dry for a few days, and then attach it back on the microwave.

Ernesto, YOU JUST SAVED ME at least $85.00! Your simple suggestion about unplugging a GE CVM2072SM3SS in order to clear up an 'infinte loop' in the control panel touch screen. Thank you!

SOURCE: Some buttons work, some don't.

The keypad may be bad. Most often they go bad due to moisture from cleaners being sprayed directly on them or steam from the cooktop when the vent fan is not used.

They can also go bad when the unit is stored in an unheated environment where there's a lot of air temperature change (hot during the day, cold at night, etc.)

It may also be some residue on the connections where the keypad plugs into the control board. Unplugging then replugging the keypad can sometimes clean them.

In other cases, a new keypad is needed.

SOURCE: Reset for GE Microwave?

There's no other reset function. If a reset (unplugging) does not correct it, it will need to be repaired.

If it's less than one year old, it should be fully covered under warranty. I'd suggest contacting the manufacturer to get it fixed free. GE Customer Service is here.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

I would suspect a blown fuse or the magnetron;s thermal cutout / thermal fuse.

SOURCE: capacitor burned out? horrible burnt smell.

YOUR GOING TO NEED A NEW MICROWAVE . the cap may be bad but the real bad smell you have is most likely the HV tranformer , if the magntron shorts to ground there will be a small smell if you dont pick up on that and your microwave is set to run another few mins the transformer will overheat and burn , then the fuse blows and the controls shut down . the end result , you have more parts bad than you have good . if you google " GE SPACEMAKER MICROWAVE FIRE ' you will see your not the only one , its getting to be COMMON . good luck

SOURCE: Touch sreen won't work

I would suspect it either needs a hard reset (unplugging it for a few minutes, then trying again) or the membrane keypad is failing.

Instead of JMV1540BMC01, it would probably be one of these models:

JVM1540DM1BB
JVM1540DM1CC
JVM1540DM1WW
JVM1540DM2BB
JVM1540DM2CC
JVM1540DM2WW
JVM1540DN1BB
JVM1540DN1CC
JVM1540DN1WW
JVM1540DN2BB
JVM1540DN2CC
JVM1540DN2WW
JVM1540LM1CS
JVM1540LM2CS
JVM1540LN1CS
JVM1540LN2CS
JVM1540SM1SS
JVM1540SM2SS
JVM1540SN1SS
JVM1540SN2SS

Ge Cafe Over the Range Microwave touch pad stopped making beeping sounds

If the touchpad on your GE Cafe over-the-range microwave has stopped making beeping sounds, there could be a few potential causes. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:
  1. Check the volume settings: It's possible that the volume settings on your microwave have been accidentally turned off or lowered. Look for a "Volume" or "Sound" button on your microwave and adjust the settings as needed.
  2. Check for a mute function: Some GE microwaves have a "Mute" button that allows you to silence the beeps temporarily. Make sure this feature hasn't been activated.
  3. Power cycle the microwave: Turn off the power to your microwave for a few minutes, then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the touchpad and restore functionality.
  4. Check for error codes: If there's a problem with the microwave, it may display an error code on the control panel. Look in your user manual or search online for information on what the code means and how to resolve it.
  5. Call for service: If none of these steps work, there may be a problem with the touchpad itself. Contact GE customer service or a professional appliance repair technician for assistance.

Panasonic microwave nn-sn668b.. after cleaning it earlier today i went to use it and it didnt work. the time reads 00:00 as if a loss of power had occured (but didn't). The only button that seems to...

If the clock is not set, nothing will work as the controls require the time to be working. Press Clear/stop twice and press clock, set time and press clock again.
Hope this helps.

Have GE JVM2050 over the range microwave, which stopped heating food and water since this morning. All other functions including light, key pad, clock, turntable work normal. The magnetron sound also

if everything works except the heating, it is most likely the mag tube is on its way out.........that is the most common reason for it not too cook.......since the microwave is a GE and it is 3.5 years old, i would say you are better off buying a new microwave, the mag tube starts at around $70.00 and up + the labor it costs too have a service person put it in........around another $60.00

Over the range Microwave trouble

It is a door switch problem of some sort.  I have two Sharp R-1611 units that do the same thing.  The light and fan come on, but not the heat, thank goodness.

I am going to replace it since the plastic for the case and door is cracked in numerous places.  I have spent several hours researching microwaves online have not a single clue what to replace the Sharp with.  Seems like every vendor has very good units and very bad units.  I guess you just pay your money and take your chances.
