I need to know if I can upgrage my ET1810-03 with a Radeon HD7770 card and a 460W PSU that came with a Dell XPS 8700

I purchased a 40inch Samsung Smart HDTV to have a nice monitor for gaming. My kids play minecraft. However, my old machine lacks any HDMI or DVI connections. So, I have ordered the above Graphics card and am getting ready to acquire the PSU from a neighbor. Will this combination work? Thank yoU!

Most likely. The power supply will fit, but Dell machines tend to be skimpy on the extra connectors as they are custom-built. The Video card is PCIe 3.0 standard. I could not get spcifics on your manboard, but I'm fairly certain that it is not up to the 3.0 level. PCIe is backward compatible, however. Just don't expect 3.0 level performance if you mainboard only supports the 1.1 standard. Basically you are racing the Ferrari in your driveway.

Buy a generic case that will accept the power supply you need. Of course you will need to transfer everything from the old case to the new case.

SOURCE: eMachine stopped displaying video (card not working, just mobo)

Hi there

I would say it's the graphics card that's failed. You might get the same beeps for faulty card as removed card....

Take it to a shop where they can test a compatible card, before they sell you one or install one for you.

I have this card and do not show video nothing and without the car I try to install the driver and software Cd but don't want to run. is my Pc totally incompatible? dell studio XPS 8000 thanks

Not neccessarily. Depending on the power rating, your 350W PSU may not be strong enough to power this card.

I would get a new PSU anyway. They are cheap nowadays and yours is very small. It will barely be enough to boot up the computer and its devices let alone a power hungry graphics card

HOW TO CHANGE DELL XPS 8700 BACK TO ITS DEFAULT MASTER BOOT (MSATA)

anonymous,
I am not exactly sure what you are saying in your post. If you booted into bios and changed the boot option to msata you can boot back into the bios tapping F2 at startup. Once in the bios press the option to Restore Defaults to get the system back to the original boot configuration.
Thank You,

Xps 8700 five beeps and five beeps starts windows goes to power save mode

Sundeep B posted this July 2013 on the DELL.COM>Community>Support Forums>Desktop>Desktop General Hardware Forum

DEL5 beep error code indicates an issue with RTC power and indicates an issue with CMOS battery. You may try reseating CMOS battery. You may refer to Owner's Manual Here. The location of CMOS battery is as shown below :

The video cards mentioned by you should function properly, however, Dell has tested XPS 8700 only with following video cards :
  • nVidia GeForce GTX 660 GTX 645 GTX 650Ti GTX 660
  • AMD Radeon HD 7570 HD8870

Dell XPS M2010 Starting Problems

If they've changed everything else, why didn't they replace the power supply? That's the next part to target for replacement, other than the on/off switch (or button) itself. With no system board beep codes it's apparent that the mobo isn't gettting any juice at all.

Also try disconnecting everything from the mobo but the power supply - including pulling add-on cards. One or more attached devices may be contributing to the problem. If it comes to life start adding things back until it fails - you've just identified the culprit.

Good Luck!
