Most likely the oven ignitor is bad or weak.  You can look at it and see how it compares to the broil ignitor.  If you see a whitish color on the ignitor and if it doesn't fully glow then it needs to be replaced.

SOURCE: JGBP28 Self cleaning works but oven does not

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

Hello ,
Welcome to fixya.
I'm Huuum and happy to assist you,

You asked, is there anyway to bypass the oven lock or bypass the self cleaning mode to get oven working?

Why do you need to do this?

If the door lock is stuck in closed position and preventing you from using the range?
You may free this by following this procedure.

Threat it like an error code.

This can reset the system.
Turn the breaker off to cut the power for 5 minutes.
Then restart the breaker and try the range.

It's like rebooting your computer when its acting strange!
Usually it corrects most problems!.
Or they are sometimes just a glitch.

If this does not remedy the problem, then the lock switch itself is bad and if you think you can bypass it then you may as well change it. Same labor!!.
Let me know how it works out.

Huuum

SOURCE: GE true temp oven f2

This happens every time I clean my oven. It overheats, shows the f2 light and BEEPS loudly. The only way to stop it is to turn the oven off at the breaker box, wait until it cools (usually 2-3 hours), flip the breaker back on and start the process all over again until the unit is clean. If it's not to dirty, sometimes it's easier to juat use Easy Off.
hope it helped

No heat on convection or self clean

If you have been using the self clean feature, you have probably burned out or damaged the connections to the fan and the convection fan element or thermistor. NEVER EVER use the self clean feature.

GE PS950SF1SS, self clean no longer works for either oven. After starting self clean door will lock but the self clean cycle shuts off after 30 seconds, same for either oven

The self clean function is a way for the makers to get revenue from broken parts and lulling you into thinking you get a clean oven. The typical things to break are elements, fans, door locks and control boards. Your either has a broken lock and isn't passing the self check, or the control board has failed. The temperature is just too harsh. If the oven works, get a can of Easy Off. If you want to use the feature, you will need to get a service

How do i lock the self cleaning ge oven door when i put it on self clean

If you have a self cleaning oven, the door will lock automatically as the self cleaning begins. Give it some time ,it will happen. When cleaning is done it will take a while for the door to unlock. GOOD LUCK FRIEND.

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

How do I start the clean cycle

The "S" in the model number stands for standard clean oven (vs. self clean), so unfortunately, you will have to use a can of Easy Off or similar oven cleaner.

DO NOT KNOW HOW TO USE SELF CLEAN ON OVEN?

Hi April,

Without a model number, I'm shooting in the dark but I'll give you basic instructions that fit for most ovens, OK?

First off the door has to be locked PRIOR to cleaning. Look around the top of the oven door, there should be a handle (for mechanical models). Rotate this handle from the left to the right to lock it. If there's no handle, that means your oven locks the door by itself when "Clean Mode" is selected.

Now, at the control panel, select "Clean". At this point, you may have options on the length of time it should clean, select 3 hours and hit "Start".

There ya go! Hope this helps. If not, DON'T RATE THIS SOLUTION! Just write back and provide the model number, I'll give you exact instructions with that. Deal? Cool.

GE JKP45 double wall oven shuts off

This sounds like a loose connection (solder joint) on the main control board. I had one that had a similar problem. checked the price of a control board $350. I took the control panel off, took the board apart and found a loose connection on one of the relays. resoldered the bad connection. oven works fine now.
