It sounds like the counterbalance spring is loose or disconnected. I would rather add weight to the counterweight box to take some load off of the motor...Use fishing sinkers, one or two rolls of pennies or equivalent. Also do not overtighten the spring you will warp the base of the bridge.

Need wiring diagram for Lionel 313 Bascule Bridge

There are 5 terminals on the bridge number them from outside to inside 1,2,3,4,5
Terminal 1 gets connected to the outside rails on a V,Z,VW,orZW transformer terminal U. The control button a #96 push button gets connected between terminals 2 and 3. Terminal 3 also gets a wire from A or B on a V or Z or Bor C on a VW/ZW. Terminal 4 gets connected to the transformer terminal D. Terminal 5 gets a wire to the lockon on the black bridge frame. The bridge needs 3 sections of track on each end seperated from the rest of the track as a stopping section remove the center rail pin on this section, This forms the stopping sections at each end of the bridge.

How do I wire a bascule bridge # 313

Just got my bascule bridge working.
1) cener rail should be ground (U terminal on my "V" transformer) and insulated from rest of tracks.
2) Power should rails should not be insulated from the rest of the tracks.
3) on my bridge there are 5 terminals (1 farthest from the track, 5 closest to the track.
4)Power to terminal 1 (on my "V" transformer that is from A terminal)
5)Terminal 2 and three are the two ends of a "Push Button Normally Off" switch (this switch send power across the motor and to ground at terminal 3.
6)Terminal 3 has two connections. The aforementioned switch and a ground connection at the transformer ( terminal "U" on my V type transformer.
7)Terminal 4 is a ground connection from the transformer ( "U" on my "V" transformer).
8)Terminal 5 runs a jumper wire to the center Rail on the clip connection at the free end of the bridge.

Good Luck

Can I use the cw-80 transformer on any Lionel train set from year 1948 to the preasant , thanks George

You should be able to. The Lionel transformers all put out AC power, not DC and many Marx and American Flyer transformers will work too. The real question is total amount of power being drawn and whether or not you have the wattage to match your engine and accessories. With the CW-80 though, it should put out plenty. I run my pre-war 1666E engine pulling a full compliment of metal cars with no problems using a CW-80.

WHO FOUND THAIWAN ON 1949?

In 1945, following the end of World War II, the Republic of China (ROC) led by the Kuomintang (KMT)

Chinese civil war, the ROC government under the KMT withdrew to Taiwan and Chiang Kai-shek
declared martial law. Japan formally renounced all territorial rights to Taiwan in 1952 in the San

Runs only in reverse i have other pre war 1681e does the same

Have you changed transformers? You can also make a Lionel run in opposite direction by using the throttle control...just go to stop and then to power and then back to no stop and right to power. That often works.

Hi,

I agree, it is old. None the less, yes on reversing the wiring of the motor. All DC motors are polarity affected.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
