Re: Sony Vaio Auto Shutdown... as if there was a power...
When your laptop begins to boot hit F8 to see if you can repair it. You may also have a virus on it that may have infected the boot sequence at start up or shutdown

This can be a sign of a memory failure, either the RAM is not clearing or the hard drive is on its' way out. Hold the power button down for 6 seconds for a "hard shutdown". Then restart and see if the problem persists.
my laptop is sony PCG-7173L. No thing display on screen and i even cant shutdown and there is no power led on power button and no sound of fan too....i cant go to advance boot option also..Please can any body help me...
When the CPU overheats then it will shutdown (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down.If this is the problem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail. A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust. Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.
ravi,
if the laptop getting power on and if u can see green light glowing and if you see that hdd keeping on blinking that mean that system is booting but there is no display.
issue is with ribbon cable inside the system u need to replace the cable. if you can do it it is ok other wise take it to service center.
i hope this will resolve the issue.
i think your computer ,s power option is fixed for afixed time ,go control panel and check on power option do never shout down. 1/ some time bad cpu fan do this. (nepal)
You should be able to go into power management utility whether it be sony or Windows and change the "when lid is closed" option from hibernate/shutdown to "do nothing"
It could be that the laptop disables it's battery when you connect it with the power supply.
When the power supply then fails it won't have enough time to switch back to battery.
You'd best first try another power supply, and post back here if that doesn't help.
there are a lot of cuase on auto shut off the laptops..
posseble if..
1. if the battery not inserted on laptop... it means you using the charger when you disconnect or loss the connection, auto shut off.
2.if the battery inserted and full of charge.. then make auto shuto off.. this problem,, sometime overheating,, A. fun not working properly..B. shortage of cheps.
try to check the charger and battery,,, use another charger to test observe atlest 30minuts.. the problem the sam auto shut off.. check the cpu fan.. or processor
