Question about Whirlpool Dryers

Inglis Dryer Dryer runs but doesn't get hot....also runs cycle with cool air but doesn't shut off at the end of the cycle. I checked the lint catcher and hose at back....both are clean. Took back panel off, there are two metal encased parts....not sure where to go from here to check the heating element or the fuse inside.

    I am having the same problem. dryer does not heat and cycle will not shut off, have removed the back panel to gain access to thermostat and element. I have a new volt meter but i am unsure of how to use it or what setting it should be on ,,

    Dryer is actually fairly new (less then 3yrs) , have checked for lint blockage(none) & discharge hose is also clear,

    any solutions or assistance on how to use the volt meter would truly be appreciated,,,

    My dryer runs but wont get hot and does not dry clothes. It also runs on the cool air setting but does not stop. It is only 3 years old!!!!

    Dryer tumbles and blows air, but doesn't heat. Checked and cleaned then vent...checked the fuse box to make sure it had not been tripped. Still does not work. Inglis dryer.

    I clean the lint every time. I took the bottom panel and there was so much lint, I cleaned this all out. why did this happen?

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & Volts

Its well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few

I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer,

If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat.

Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity

If your dryer isn't getting hot it and drying clothes it sounds like the heating element is out. I is a easy fix.

Inglis IED4400SQ0 - I thought it was my heating elemnent I tested continuity using a multimeter on all of the 5 pieces ( fuses and heating element) turned out it was the thermal cut fuse. I very temporarily shorted it to confirm, and that's what it was. Gonna go buy the new kit tomorrow thanks for all the help.

    I have the same problem, and I'm fixing it myself, or attempting to fix it. I'm trying to change the coils (2) (1 has 3 prongs, one has only 2) there are little knob pieces molded to them, are they supposed to be face up or down? can't remember, maybe a diagram would be GREAT! Its an Iglis gas dryer

Depending on the age of the dryer, you could have the main motor going bad. When the motor isn't working properly it will run for a while and then it gets hot and since it has an internal heat safety it shuts off, It won't start again usually for about 1/2 to 3/4 of an hour after it cools back down.

Also it can be a few other issues:

1: It could be an issue with the lint catcher. Take the lint catcher out, clean off all the see-able lint, then take it to the bathroom and try to run water through it. If the water settles or doesn't run through very well, take an old toothbrush and scrub that clean under water until water passes through easily. This issue caused my dryer to shut off without being dry too
2: Depending on how new your dryer is, it may have a dryness sensor in it. That sensor may not be working well or at all causing the problem as well.
3: Finally your heater could be going out in your dryer and causing it to hot get hot enough in the time you set for the clothes to be dry.

The "Ad" in the display indicates that the dryer is in the Auto Dry cycle.



The dryer will run in the Auto Dry cycle until the moisture sensor bars detect no more moisture in the garments being dried. The machine will then go into a cool down period and then end the cycle.



If the dryer is getting unusually hot, I recommend checking for a restriction in the air flow. Make sure that your lint screen is properly cleaned before starting every cycle. Check the flexible vent hose behind the dryer for a kink or a restriction. Check the exhaust ducting to the outside of the house for lint build-up or a restriction. This may help the dryer perform properly.

My Inglis dryer is overheating. How do I troubleshoot this problem? Thanks...
did you remove the metal duct to the left of the t-stat and thermal fuse?usually this gets filled with lint and will take out either the thermal fuse or the high limit,pull it off and clean it,also if the vent line is long,you can stick a leaf blower into the end of it and blow it out.most problems i find in dryers is from lint buildup.

The dryer is causing the breaker to trip

Dryer drum is turning, but not drying the clothes. When I open the door, there is heat. Lint has been cleaned out
Check where the dryer vent comes out and make sure that there is a good amount of air coming out. If the fan is blowing, the drum is turning, and there is heat, the likely thing is that the dryer vent is partially blocked. Check the pipe leading out. Bird's nests are not uncommon. The only other thing I can think of is that the door catch is wearing out and the door is popping open, shutting the dryer off mid-cycle. Some dryers will continue to run the timer if the cycle is interrupted and it will appear that the dryer ran its full cycle, but in reality it shut off soon after it started.

Dryer has hot air but takes 2-3 hours to dry clothes. What can I do?
This is almost always due to lint build up in the vent pipe. pull the dryer out from the wall, disconnect the vent pipe. look inside the rear of the dryer and into the pipe. remove lint that is present. go out doors and examine the vent from that end. finally remove the lint catcher in the dryer and look in there. remove any lint you see.

Getting Hot, but not drying the clothes
there has got to be some restriction in the vent system. Take the vent pipe completely off and look in the tube coming directly out of the dryer. Also make sure the drum is turning good speed.

Conia CCD4501 cloths dryer not blowing hot air anymore
If you can turn it on and have the door open, hold the door switch in and see if you have a glow from the heating element. If not, your element is broken. That is if it is an electric dryer. If it is a gas dryer you need to check the pilot light or the thermo sensor.
