Laptop hangs during video-call

I have a Dell XPS M1210 with external USB webcam.  Laptop goes hanged after some minutes of starting video call. Sometimes works longer, sometimes in a minute.
System memory is 2.5 GB and processor is C2D-2.0
I have even formatted hard-drive properly and installed newer updated version of XP, but the problem is not solved. Webcam drivers are also updated and OK. Everything is working smooth, no other troubles.
Please help.

Go to Dell support website and check for latest video, & audio drivers and BIOS.
https://support.dell.com/support/supportrequests/create.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs
Check back quarterly as Dell is quite good about rolling out updates on a regular basis.

Dell xps laptop lcd screen black

Hi,

If you have an external monitor, try connecting the laptop to it, then toggle FN+F8 to project display from lalaptop to external monitor.

If the external monitor does not have a display aswell (totally blank) , then its a problem with the video card.

You can also run an LCD Bist test by turning off the system , then while the system is turned off press D + power , If you dont hear a beep but no display at all, then its an LCD problem.

Hope this helps

Thanks

Dennis

I was watching a video in my Dell XPS M1210 when it suddenly stopped and the screen when blank. I unplugged it and tried to switch on but I still get a blank screen but the power button has lights as well...

The inverter or backlight on the display may have gone out. Connect an external VGA monitor to the laptop. If it works, then the display has a bad inverter or the backlight CCFL lamp went out.

I have a Dell XPS M1210 laptop for which I have just purchased a new 9-cell compatible battery. It worked great for a couple of hours, but now shuts off immediately when unplugged from the AC power supply....

You might want to try what I did when I had a completely discharged battery for my Dell Laptop. I attached the battery to the computer, make sure the computer is off and plug in the charger for a full twenty four hours (undisturbed). And this really worked. I had no problems with the battery. Good luck.
