Side by side ice and water dispenser

The light in my water and ice dispenser needed to be replaced. When I replaced the bulb the bulb blew and I lost all power to my dispenser panel.

I have found the fuse any suggestions where I might buy one and also a 4 w bulb. Lowes and home depot do not stock even though they sell the product.

Did you replace the bulb with one of the same voltage rating?

Seems strange that a new bulb should blow straight away, maybe it was faulty.

This sounds like a blown fuse.

    Get the parts catalogue here

    http://safemanuals.com/user_guide_instru...

It shows an exploded view of the dispenser panel.

Look at page 14 part number 83, this is a 7A fuse that you should be able to replace easily.

    Good luck

I dont think there is anything special about the fuse or bulb.

Try a smaller electrical store or domestic appliance repair shop, they will know exactly what you are talking about.

You'll need to take the 7A fuse because theres 3 or 4 different lengths and also the bulb which is 115V,4W but the guy will need to see the screw size.

A spotty teenager on customer service at Home Depot will NOT be able to help :)

    Thanks for the rating.

    Regards.

Frigidaire FRS26ZSH -ice & water dispenser panel lost power

I think you will need to unplug the pin plug under the cover at top or bottom hinge. Check the voltage and if OK leave unplugged until you can remove the dispenser and I will try to help you from the power source. Sounds like a short in the board and related to the light socket. The fuse only stopped the short from doing further damage, You may need to locate the short before replacing the fuse or board. I have looked over the wiring diagram. If you find the short without my help just be sure to replace the fuse with the correct size. The only things are the chute heater or something in that area of the board went to ground. Do you have a voltage meter? Contact me later when ready, Sea Breeze

I have a GE side by side refrigerator model # PSS26SGRD and the water and ice dispenser stops working without any warning or symptom intermintently. It will be working find for days or weeks and suddenly...

Well, the solution to this problem was posted in this thread
http://www.fixya.com/support/t1295372-ge_profile_ref_ice_despenser_motor_not

It seems that the bulb in the front panel is pulling to much current as it ages and it makes the control panel in not work properly. Removing the bulb will fix the problem - just fixed mine.

Also seems to match your symptoms (works sometimes and then not others - bulb current is inconstent, light dims when dispense lever pressed - again wrong current draw).

Good luck

Ice & water dispenser not working

The control board is likely gone bad or a wire harness inside the front came loose. With all those indications, I'd lean toward a dead board.
